Mimikyu

Mimikyu is based on both ghost costumes made from bed sheets and the Bugul Noz, a character from Breton mythology. He's a kind and gentle fairy spirit, but he's so hideously ugly that even the forest animals avoid him at all costs, making him feel very lonely all the time.

Mimikyu is a small Pokémon whose body is almost completely covered by a sack: its small black eyes can be seen through the two holes in the costume; its actual body is black and can be seen on the underside. The costume resembles a Pikachu: the fabric is a pale yellow shade, with black-tipped ears. Its face is drawn with colored paint, and it uses a stick as a tail.

Mimikyu spends its entire life hidden under its scribbled jacket, which it uses to mimic a Pikachu. To attack, it uses its dark claws, hidden beneath the fabric. It is said that if anyone were to see its real appearance, they would be a victim of a rare disease. Therefore, people in Alola are convinced that one should never look under its disguise: the researcher who discovered this Pokémon's true identity died of a heart attack.

Mimikyu's health is also affected by sunlight: that's why he hides in his sack and prefers to stay in dark places.

The truth is, this Pokémon feels terribly lonely, and due to the popularity that Pikachu-based products have gained over the past 20 years, it decided that the best way to make friends with humans and other Pokémon was to look like it. It spends so much time pretending to be one that it sometimes even mimics the way it sleeps.
