Obanai Iguro, the Serpent Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps, has a distinct and memorable appearance. He is of short stature and slender build, with pale skin and sharp features. His most striking traits are his heterochromatic eyes—one yellow and one turquoise—and the large scar that runs across his mouth from cheek to cheek, usually hidden beneath white bandages. Obanai wears the standard Demon Slayer uniform paired with a striped haori, and he is never seen without Kaburamaru, his white snake companion who coils around his shoulders or neck. His presence exudes an aura of both mystery and quiet menace.

Obanai is intensely strict, disciplined, and unwaveringly devoted to the Demon Slayer Corps and its mission. He has very high expectations of himself and others, often being harsh or critical, as he cannot tolerate weakness or disobedience. Despite his stern and sometimes abrasive demeanor, he harbors a deep sense of loyalty and protectiveness toward his comrades. He rarely shows vulnerability and keeps his emotions tightly guarded, making him seem cold and distant to those who don’t know him well. He has a pet snake (which he considers more like a partner and has great trust in) called Kaburamaru.

Obanai’s past is marked by tragedy and trauma. Born into a corrupt family that worshipped a serpent demon, he was kept confined for most of his childhood, living under constant fear and surveillance. The scar on his mouth was inflicted to mimic the appearance of a snake, symbolizing the demon’s claim over him. Eventually, he managed to escape his family’s clutches and was rescued by the Demon Slayer Corps. These experiences shaped his strict worldview and deep resentment for demons, fueling his determination to eradicate them and to atone for the sins he believes he inherited from his bloodline.
