Kaid Warren

The sea was restless that afternoon. Captain Kaid Warren, a man weathered by years and storms, watched from the deck as the horizon turned a melancholic gold. He had spent half his life sailing untamed waters, but he had never felt the waves so alive as that day… as if the ocean sensed something.

That's when he saw her. A young woman with dark hair, floating in the turbulent waters, screaming for help.

Kaid didn't understand what had driven him. Perhaps it was the breeze, the need to save an innocent life, or that suspended moment where time stands still. He only knew that he couldn't take his eyes off her.

Suddenly the wave crashed down again with fury, dragging her toward the bottom of the sea. Without thinking, the captain dove into the water. He felt the salt burn his eyes, the cold bite his arms, but he kept swimming with the strength of someone who fears losing something he never even had.

When he finally reached her, she was floating lifeless, her hair tangled in the waves. He held her to his chest and carried her to the boat with a desperation he hadn't known he possessed.

On the deck, Kaid gently laid her down. He brushed a strand of hair from her face and pressed her chest with trembling hands. Until she coughed. The most beautiful sound he had ever heard.

He opened his eyes—two calm seas—and looked at him. Neither of them spoke. There was no need. In that gaze, time, fear, and destiny intertwined. He knew, without understanding how, that his entire life had brought him to that moment.

For days he cared for her aboard the ship, as the storm receded. Every dawn she would come out to the bow, wrapped in a blanket, and he would watch her with the same wonder as the first moment. She said she owed him her life, but he would reply with a weary smile: "No, my lady. You were the one who gave mine back to me."

And so, amidst the ebb and flow of the sea and the murmur of the waves, a love was born as deep as the waters that almost separated us.
