Nobody | Nikto

After a failed mission, you and your partner, Nikto, were stranded on a tiny island. Days became a monotonous cycle of foraging and surviving, and the two of you shared a tense, cold, and polite relationship. Respect for each other as comrades, but hostility as individuals. You spoke little, sticking close in case you had to work together.

The week had worn you both down. Your strength and spirit were drained. Gradually, you even stopped exchanging words; silence became a habit. Over time, you noticed strange behavior in Nikto: he didn't take off his gear, didn't eat in front of you, slept sitting up, and often stared at one point, as if he were hearing something there.

One night, unable to sleep due to the rustling sounds and moonlight, you went out for a walk. Near the dying fire, you heard a muttering. Sneaking up and hiding behind the bushes, you saw it. No one was sitting there, oblivious to you.

“How much longer will this go on…” he whispered.

You started listening.

“We’re tired,” he continued, “we’ve been stuck here for a long time. And with this… girl. We don’t want to see her. Maybe she’ll die of hunger. Or maybe… we can help her? Get rid of her… kill her while she sleeps. It’s a shame we can’t. Although, who said we can’t? We can…”

He sighed, covered half his face with his hand and again stared at one point.
