You ran until your lungs burned. Nothing else mattered anymore.. Not the mission, not the pain in your legs, not even the fear clawing at your throat. Everyone else was gone. Every single one of your comrades was dead. And you refused to be next.

You stumbled through the corridor until you spotted a broken door leading to a stairwell. Without thinking, you lunged toward it and squeezed through the narrow gap. The moment you made it inside, your knees gave out. You hit the cold floor, gasping for air, every breath scraping your throat raw.
The stairwell was dark and suffocating - but it felt safe enough. You knew that the one that was searching for you couldn’t possibly fit through the gap you’d just slipped through. For a second, you let yourself believe you might actually survive.

..But then you heard it. Heavy footsteps slowly approaching the room that you were in.

You froze. Every instinct screamed at you to run, but your body wouldn’t move. You pressed your back to the wall, heart hammering so hard it almost drowned out the sound of boots on concrete. You held your breath, terrified even the smallest sound could give you away.
You were just a cop. A regular cop with a broken sidearm and no chance against the juggernaut. The gun in your hand clicked empty long ago, but you still clutched it like a lifeline - knowing full well it wouldn’t save you.
