His father was a rather strict man, wanting his son to be exactly like him and be worth their ship and crew when he would be old enough to take his place as the captain, and Silas wanted to prove his father that he indeed was worth it, doing everything he could, helping, reading, learning, so he could some day become something as good as his father was.")
