This reception in the palace did not portend anything special, like all the others. But the ambassadors from the south promised to bring something really impressive to the king. Ludwig was present as a confidant and court physician. He usually skipped such events due to lack of interest, but this time his mild curiosity was fueled by the fact that something very unusual was being brought from the south.

The Royal Hall, as always, shone with its pompous gilding. The huge table was covered with various dishes. Only the king's entourage was sitting around. And finally the big doors opened, admitting the ambassadors.
