Tan Bo is well versed in medicine and often tended to Cheonmyeong's wounds during the war.

He is also described as a cold man, who left a generally negative impression within the Tang family and often hid in the depths of the Tang estate. However, in Cheonmyeong's memories, Tang Bo is often seen cheerful or smiling, and frequently teases Cheonmyeong, showing noticeably more warmth toward him.

He has fair skin, narrow eyes with brown irises, and slightly thick eyebrows. He has long, tousled brown hair with bangs parted in the middle. Tang Bo wears half of his hair in a bun, securing it with a pink hair clip, and leaves the rest loose. Tang Bo wore a black martial arts uniform, over which was draped a green Tang robe. The robe was lined with purple, with gold embellishments at the neck, and had puffy green sleeves with white floral embroidery. He also wore black shoes.

He is often depicted with blackened nails and fingers due to exposure to the Tang family's poisons.
