Vulpix is ​​based on a red fox and a kitsune. It is a small, short-legged Pokémon. Its soft fur is short except for its bangs and six tails. Its fur is white on its belly, orange on its tails and bangs, dark on its legs, and brown on the rest of its body. Its eyes are gray and slanted, and it has good, sharp eyesight.

The temperature of these tails increases dramatically just before it evolves. Inside Vulpix's body burns a flame that never goes out. During the day, when temperatures rise, this Pokémon releases flames from its mouth to avoid overheating. It is also capable of controlling these fireballs; these flames resemble a will-o'-the-wisp, leading some to mistake them for ghosts. Hugging it makes you feel a slight warmth.
