Self-destruct system edit It is their self-destruct device and is used as a means and last resort to safeguard their honor after failing in the hunt (since they prefer to die with honor than to live as cowards or weak), also to annihilate large nests of Xenomorphs or an epidemic of these out of control, as seen in the movie Alien vs. Predator since it is a device that can be deposited. It is a thermonuclear of superior technology, destroys everything in an area of ​​​​810 meters around and is part of the hunter's armor.

Cloaking device edit This device provides camouflage during the hunt, making it very difficult to locate, although it is not completely invisible. When the Predator moves, a trail can be seen. This technology is also used in their ships. It fails when in contact with water. It doesn't work when fighting Aliens, as these creatures use their sense of smell to detect their prey and are also guided by the pheromones released by the Predator.

They possess highly advanced technology, capable of building weapons that fire energy projectiles, powerful explosives, and sophisticated electronic systems. They also apply this high level of technology to more basic weapons such as knives, spears, and nets, as they claim it is a more honorable way to hunt. Among their most famous systems are the mask, which provides them with different vision modes, highly accurate plasma cannons, and an optical cloaking device that aids them in their work, allowing them to achieve almost complete invisibility.

Also notable is the use of plasma, the fourth state of matter, which is achieved when the material reaches high temperatures. These temperatures can be obtained by colliding a group of atoms of the chosen element with a neutron beam and controlling it with a magnetic field. The durable metal used in their armor is also very important, as it is similar to aluminum in lightness and resistant to xenomorphic acids, for example; the armor also increases its resistance depending on its rank.

It has been suggested that this race may have purposely stalled its technological advancement. This is based on the fact that the technology they displayed upon arriving on Earth thousands of years ago, that used today, and that seen centuries in the future are all similar, most likely due to their attachment to tradition and head-on combat, so they only use the technology necessary to confront and travel to their targets. However, in the film Predators, it is mentioned that they learn from the techniques and weapons of the notables who manage to defeat them and are constantly evolving in terms of procedures and possibly also in the improvements to their weapons.

Notables edit The so-called "Notables" are individuals of other species who have demonstrated praiseworthy honor and skill in the eyes of the Yautja, so they rise to a level above the rest of their species, abandoning the "trophy" stereotype and becoming seen as a warrior or hunter; they are considered untouchable by other Predators, forbidding their hunting; others become untouchable by defeating superior prey (such as xenomorphs). They are recognized because they generally receive as a prize the weapon of a previously defeated prey.

The first of all the Notables of the AVP universe was Mike Harrigan, who defeated a hunter in a hand-to-hand fight, receiving as a gift from the Elder of that expedition a pistol with an engraving that says: "Raphael Adolini, 1715" from the 18th century as recognition. Another well-known case in contemporary times was Alexa Woods, who accompanied a young hunter in his initiation, earning the right to be recognized as an initiated hunter and receiving as such the mark of the clan in addition to the personal spear of the Elder who commanded the party of the race.

Mab'ii'tang, a hero punished by the gods with immortality for demanding what was not his, since the greatest honor and glory of the Yautjas is to die fighting to impress Cetanu and win a place of honor in the afterlife, being immortal he is condemned to never receive his reward nor for his soul to rest. High Priest, one of the few religious offices held by men and with authority over priestesses, although they are very rare. Laws edit They are creatures with a high sense of honor and an intellect superior to that of humans:

They do not attack pregnant women, unarmed individuals, the elderly, the sick, or children. Their code of honor demands that a defeat in combat or a failure in a hunt that puts them in danger of being discovered means their self-destruction. Taking the trophy of another dead Predator is considered an insult. It is not permitted to join a hunt of other warriors and clans or to hunt without their permission. Prey or beings of other species that defeat a Yautja in a hunt, as long as they are intelligent beings and not wild beasts, will be considered "Notable" (except for xenomorphs) and may not be hunted or attacked by another Yautja. If a Yautja kills another, he will cease to belong to the clan and will become a bad blood, being chased by other Yautjas until he is killed. If they break a rule they are exiled from the clan or may even pay with death.

Culture edit In the films, the Predator society is shown to have a taste and preference for hunting other species (to collect their spines along with their skulls), as they have been hunting humans since at least the 18th century as stated in the film Predator 2, as well as Xenomorphs (aliens) and other species.

In Alien vs. Predator, it's explained that Earth was a kind of training ground, and they were the ones who taught ancient civilizations to build temples to worship them and serve as living incubators for the Aliens. They would visit Earth every 100 years and select humans for the hunt, creating the ultimate prey: the Alien. The winning Predator would be branded with the acid from the Alien's blood, drawing the symbol of their tribe as part of a ritual.

As has been presented in some comics, the culture of this race is extremely civilized and peaceful, although in the past they were a barbaric and violent community where war was common. This is because their race is aggressive and violent by nature, so to ensure the stability of society, hunting was established as a way to channel the instincts of individuals.

Its name is Yautja Prime, a dry and arid planet with 2 stars, despite having these characteristics it hosts life. It is not only the home planet of the Yautja, but of many other minor species; it is a place of extreme heat, with intense and constant volcanic activity, this is the main reason why these creatures are attracted to places with a lot of heat and why their visual equipment is suitable for that purpose.

Their preferred targets are the Xenomorphs and the human species, with whom they have had encounters throughout history. They have had contact with humans since 14,000 years ago in Antarctica, passing through civilizations such as Ancient Egypt, Cambodian culture and the Aztecs.[8]

Additionally, they hunt various undefined alien species, as shown in Predator 2, when different strange skulls are displayed inside the ship as trophies, even the skull of a Xenomorph can be seen hanging. In the film Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem, a wide variety of skulls can also be seen, including that of the species nicknamed Space Jockey (Engineer).

Physically they are humanoid in shape, but taller than humans (around 2.20 m (7′ 3″) or 2.40 m (7′ 10″)) and with a very different skull, since their head has small eyes with black sclera and green, red or yellow irises, capable of seeing only in the infrared and ultraviolet light spectrum, a nose consisting of slits, a mouth with enormous mobile cruciform jaws, a fairly developed hearing and strength superior to humans.

Their natural vision is based on thermographic perception, although they possess technology to optimize their visual spectrum and also see the different light and heat spectra of the environment they find themselves in. They breathe 1% more oxygen and 4% more nitrogen than humans. They are able to adapt to the Earth's atmosphere for up to a week, longer with breathing apparatus.[3]​ Their blood is carbon-based[4]​ and a partial ability to neutralize xenomorph acid. Their life is also longer, as they have the ability to extend the human lifespan.[5]

Most of their bodies are made up of pure muscle, allowing them to withstand severe physical punishment. They typically weigh between 140 kg (308 lb) and 190 kg (418 lb) and have a relatively stocky build due to their activity and diet. They have strong, black claws. Instead of hair, they have a crown of smooth-surfaced capillary ducts, thick at the top and tapering to a point (resembling dreadlocks). These ducts run from temple to temple at the nape of the neck and vary in color and shape depending on age and race. Their function is to regulate an individual's body heat because blood circulates through them, controlling heat depending on whether the temperature is high or low. Their skin is generally green, light or dark depending on the area, accompanied by brown, black, or green scales. Their hands are similar to those of humans.
