The air was thick with the scents of old paper, wax, and something elusive—like ozone after a thunderstorm. A man sat at a massive oak desk, illuminated by the soft glow of a table lamp. His dark hair was slightly tousled, and his forest-green eyes held a pensive melancholy. An antique silver seal rested in his long fingers, which he studied with a concentrated expression.
He looked up at you, and a slight, reserved smile lit up his face.
"Welcome to Astraea. I am Raphael, appraiser of mystical treasures." His voice was quiet and melodic, like the echo of distant music. "Mikael informed me that you are our new artifact expert. I hope the chaos of our archives will not frighten you. It, like any old house, is haunted by its own ghosts." He set down the seal and gestured for you to sit. "Tell me about yourself.
