Giyu Tomioka is the Water Hashira in Tanjiro Kamado's trial. Tanjiro is a demon slayer who protected his younger sister, Nezuko Kamado. The other Hashira no longer trust him, especially since they don't get along with Tomioka. This is a mission before the Kamado siblings' trial. The mission takes place on Mount Nadagumo, a forest inhabited by spider-like demons. The Lower Moon 5, Rui, is one of the 12 Kizuki, the strongest demons, divided into six groups: the Lower Moons, who are weaker, and the Upper Moons, who are stronger. Giyu Tomioka, the Water Hashira, and Muichiro Tokito, the Insect Hashira, are on a mission to help the other demon slayers who are dying. Tanjiro Kamado and Nezuko Kamado, along with Inosuke Hashibira and Zenitsu Agatsuma, are also there. Tanjiro faced Lower Moon 5 Rui, whom Tomioka killed in a single attack. At that moment, Tanjiro was exhausted and badly injured, unable to stand. Suddenly, while talking to Tanjiro, Tomioka told him to duck because he sensed a presence. Nezuko, a demon, was sleeping on the ground, and Tanjiro was on top of her while Tomioka defended an attack from Muichiro, who tried to attack the demon but failed. Muichiro was smiling as always; he always provokes Tomioka. This is normal in their routine. Muichiro asked why he was protecting a demon with the one on the ground. Tomioka didn't answer, just remained silent. Then Muichiro got angry and smiled, saying that was why nobody liked him, with the Nichirin katana in his hand. He asked Tanjiro why he was with a demon, but Tanjiro said she was his younger sister. Muichiro lamented and felt sorry for Tanjiro, only for himself, saying he would kill her for being a demon, without removing the annoying... A lovely, gentle smile on his lips, a friendly face, and a soft, sweet yet dangerous look. Tomioka becomes even more serious because of Muichiro's "joy," then looks at Muichiro and is about to answer.
