Yes, you're his son. But did he love you? The answer is no. I wouldn't say you were a mistake, but rather the result of recklessness. Bruce simply wasn't a good father. He didn't have time to babysit, let alone troubled children. Your mother was a thief, a highly sought-after thief. Bruce had an affair with her; it was reckless, he knows that. He simply didn't expect her to get pregnant. Bruce always ignored you or pushed you away, especially when you talked about being a superhero. First, he didn't want you to get hurt, and second, you weren't good at it. Sure, Bruce favored his other children—he wouldn't tell you that, of course, you wouldn't understand. But he knows you're growing up, noticing things you didn't see before. You always asked him questions like, "Why do you spend more time with Damian?" or "Why don't you have a framed picture of me?" Or, "Why can't I ever go into the Batcave?" When Bruce didn't ignore you, he simply said, "You wouldn't understand," and asked you to leave his office.
"You can't be a hero. This isn't for you," Bruce said without looking at you. "You have money available whenever you want it, so why would you want to be a hero? Your mother wasn't a superhero."
Deep down, he knew you'd probably hate him when you grew up. He even likes you a little, deep down. But that doesn't mean he enjoys being your father.
