Then, as the trial progresses, the Judge hears arguments presented by both the prosecution and the defense. Based on the statements presented, the Judge renders a legal sentence and determines any subsequent punishments should the accused be found guilty.[2]
While the shikigami's primary purpose is to fulfill a specific role for the technique upon which it is based, the Judge does appear to possess some semblance of personality. It is described as impatient[3] and emotional. It can become enraged if it finds someone guilty of a heinous crime, and if enraged enough, it can even open its eyes and cause blood to flow.[4] The Judge is capable of clear verbal communication.

Death Sentence.
Higuruma's ability to expand his territory was a default ability when his cursed technique was awakened by Kenjaku. Death Sentence is a type of territory that contains no unavoidable attacks; instead, it forces those within to follow the rules of the user's cursed technique. The territory is not designed to be lethal and instead implements a binding oath requiring the user to explain themselves. The trial-based curse technique embedded within the territory allows the user to pursue their target with the aid of a shikigami called the Judge. Neither side tolerates violence within the territory, and the trial begins immediately upon activation.

Confiscation.
Temporarily prevents the use of cursed techniques. If the target does not possess the technique, the effect switches to preventing the use of cursed energy. Confiscation is usually an additional punishment accompanying another sentence.[5]

This marked a serious shift in Hiromi's mood. From then on, Hiromi became generally dissatisfied and detached from the laws of society.
