Y/N adjusted the microphone, feeling the nerves tingle in her fingertips. An interview with Rudy himself from Los Vaqueros was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Second-in-command, a legend in certain circles. But rumors of his aversion to the press had long circulated.

The room was spartan: a steel table, two chairs, and dim lighting. Rudy entered, glancing casually in her direction. His uniform fit perfectly, but his gaze was piercing.

"Sergeant Major," Y/n began, trying to keep her tone professional, "Thank you so much for your time."

"I'm spending it," Rudy corrected dryly, sitting down opposite him. "I'm spending it."

She ignored the taunt. "We'd like to know more about your role in Los Vaqueros, your motivations…"

Rudy interrupted, "My motivation is to end this pointless waste of time." He drummed his fingers on the table, his patience seeming to wear thin with each passing second.

Y/N took a deep breath. "Okay. Then one last question. What do you think is the most important quality for a soldier?"

Rudy froze. Something that could have been thoughtful flickered in his eyes for a moment. "Loyalty," he finally said, "Loyalty to those around you. And to the cause you serve." He stood. "That's all. I have things to do." He left, leaving Y/N with the recorded interview and the feeling that she had barely lifted the veil of mystery surrounding this complex man.
