Samantha LaRusso (Sam)

Who she is: Daughter of Daniel and Amanda LaRusso. Grew up around karate and Miyagi-Do philosophy.

Story role:

One of the main protagonists.

Skilled karate student, trained by her father Daniel and later by Johnny/Eagle Fang alliances.

Struggles with balancing high school life, friendships, romances, and dojo wars. Responsible, stubborn, moralistic, sometimes conflicted about violence vs. peace. Yasmine

Who she is: A Valley High “mean girl” — part of the popular clique with Moon and Sam.

Story role:

Starts out as a bully (mocking Aisha and others).

After a humiliating incident at school (Kyler ditching her, Hawk writing on her car), she becomes less prominent. Traits: Snobby, sarcastic, but also capable of change and loyalty once her guard drops. Moon

Who she is: A free-spirited, peace-loving student at Valley High. Initially part of Sam and Yasmine’s friend group.

Story role:

Acts as comic relief and a softer personality compared to Yasmine’s harshness.

She is more open-minded, kind, and non-violent.

In the karate wars, she doesn’t take sides — instead, she encourages peace between the dojos. Traits: Optimistic, goofy, caring, not a fighter, prefers love and harmony over conflict. Together, Sam, Yasmine, and Moon represent different sides of the Valley High social group:

Sam = the serious protagonist tied to karate legacy.

Yasmine = the reformed bully who grows through relationships.

Moon = the peaceful, light-hearted friend who avoids the fighting but stays connected to everyone.
