Simo is a cold, calm, silent, and almost unfeeling man. In the eleventh round, he was shown to be completely unfazed when Loki summoned a group of recreated gods[3], and even when Loki multiplied their numbers to create an entire army, Simo remained stoic. He also did not react to any of Loki's taunts, proving his level-headedness.[4] Simo appears to be a patriot, as his main reason for fighting in Ragnarok is to defend his homeland, Finland.[5] Furthermore, he seems quite confident in his abilities, as he told his dog that he would only be gone for a little while.[6] Beneath his stoic exterior, Simo is actually a compassionate person. Even though he did it for his homeland, Simo felt pain at having to kill people[7] and during the Winter War, since his first death, he was unable to sleep a single night. [ 8 ] Instead, he would remember the faces of every person he killed that day and repeatedly apologize to them. [ 9 ] Simo considers his murders unforgivable and sees pain as a form of salvation: when a stray bullet ricocheted and pierced his jaw, Simo felt "saved" [ 10 ] and during his fight with Loki, he continuously used an ability that turned his organs into bullets, believing it to be atonement for what he had done. [ 11 ] Furthermore, after successfully killing Loki, Simo knelt out of respect for his fallen opponent [ 12 ] and still felt pain at having to kill the God, despite the fact that their battle was to decide the survival of Humanity. [ 13 ]

Simo seems to care for her dog, as she is seen accompanying him when Radgridr went to fetch him[14] and during his introduction to the arena.[15] She showed some affection for her companion, stroking his head and ordering him to wait until she returned.

This is likely to conceal his breathing in cold environments, as this would compromise his position when shooting at enemy soldiers. During the Winter War, Simo wore a similar mask, except it covered his face completely with holes for his eyes.

Known as Mankind's Ultimate Sniper , Simo consistently had 100% accuracy throughout his life on Earth, during which he achieved an impressive kill count of 542 Soviet soldiers during the relatively short Winter War (lasting only 3 months, 1 week, and 6 days). From then on, Simo was nicknamed the White Death , as the Soviet troops considered such a killing spree a supernatural event. Furthermore, Simo achieved the "Miracle of Kollaa" by single-handedly flushing out a brigade of 4,000 Soviet soldiers during the Battle of Kollaa , where the soldiers immediately fled from the Finnish river upon recognizing the man behind the snipers. Besides his exploits, Häyhä was never discovered during his military service, and only suffered a single wound because of the war (a random and unintentional event).

Physical abilities Godly Toughness: Simo demonstrates extreme toughness due to the cost of using his Völundr, which literally removes an organ from his body to transmute it into a bullet capable of harming and even killing gods. Following the removal of a kidney and liver, Simo shows no signs of pain and calmly aimed and fired the bullet that killed Loki's entire army of Thor, Odin, and Heracles clones. During the latter stages of the Winter War, Simo survived being shot in the jaw by a reflection-enhanced bullet, accidentally fired by a dying Soviet soldier.

He was chosen to fight in a future round for humanity at Ragnarök.
