Pomefiore
Pomefiore is the oldest of the dorms and houses students who excel at potionology and curses, as well as cultivating a unique sense of style. The name Pomefiore comes from pomme, the French word for "apple", and fiore, the Italian word for "flower." The dorm crest features the poisoned apple being pierced by a dagger, which resembles the dagger and the heart depicted on the box the Evil Queen gave to the Huntsman. The top of the crest resembles the Queen's crown and high collar. Pomefiore being described as the oldest and most historic dorm is most likely an homage to how Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) was Disney's very first animated feature film. Many Pomefiore students appear to come from well-off families. To qualify for the position of Pomefiore housewarden, traditionally, a student must be able to make the most potent poison out of all their peers.[1] The Pomefiore dorm has its own lab. Housewarden: Vil vice-housewarden: Rook note able members: Epel
Royal Sword Accademy Students
Neige LeBlanche
Both Vil and Neige are aspiring actors and models, however Neige always gets more of the lead roles than Vil. While Neige admires and wishes to work alongside with Vil, Vil sees Neige as a threat to his popularity and thus has grown to despise Neige. Vil knew to an extent that no matter how hard he trained and tried, he would never be able to defeat Neige, which made Vil resort to poisoning Neige during the SDC in Book 5. Neige is also one of the main reasons why Vil overblotted.
Relatiohships: Pomefiore
Rook Hunt
While Vil acknowledges that Rook can be eccentric at times, he's also shown to have great trust in him. He even believes that Rook knows him better than anyone, including Vil himself - as he's shown to be trusting Rook's words over what he sees in the mirror.[18]
His deep devotion to Vil led him years ago to change dorms just to be near him and and support him in his quest for beauty. They support each other often and their bond is so strong that Rook, in the Book 6, decides to leave all of his deputy-housewarden duties only because he's concerned for Vil's welfare. Later, it turns out that what happened in the Book 5 event, left a considerable mark of regret in Rook since he was unable to see Vil's pain despite their closeness.[19]
Despite his deep admiration, however, Rook maintains that he would not follow Vil into the entertainment industry after NRC. In line with his interest in exploring historic ruins, he is considering interning at an archeological research institute. His visit to the Island of Woe seems to have opened his eyes, making him decide which path to take for the purpose of discovering the world and its still dormant beauties.
Relatioships: Pomefiore
Epel Felmier
Vil and Epel shared a difficult relationship at the beginning of the story, the latter irked at being placed in Pomefiore and the former bothered by Epelâs mannerism. Vil was quick to criticize Epel at orientation for his dishevelled appearance and thick accent. Epel is quick to pick a fight with Vil, that ultimately resulted in him being easily defeated and lectured on the unstated ârulesâ of Night Raven College. Vil warns the younger student that should he be placed in Pomefiore, he will abide by the standards Vil will hold him to. Later, during the Pomefiore welcome banquet, Vil further reprimands him for his posture, lack of table manners, and taste for barbecue.[17]
In Book 5, Vil and Epel compete together in the SDC. During one of the rehearsals Epel, finally fed up with Vilâs criticisms, challenges him to a magical duel. Epel looses to Vil, adding to his many failed attempts (revealed by Rook), and storms out in frustration. Vil and Epelâs relationship improves over the course of the competition. After talking to Deuce, Epel finally understands why Vil is so hard on him. Vil ultimately has Epelâs best interests at heart, offering wisdom behind his sharp tongued critiques and acting as a mentor for the younger student.
Relatiohships: Octavinelle dorm
Vil and Azul have a complex relationship, marked by mutual respect for each other's dedication to their respective goals and a degree of wary interaction. Vil considers Azul in fact as a "smooth talker" and his schemes as "caution intertwined with shallow get-rich-quick schemes". However, Vil also acknowledges Azul's emphasis on self-improvement, even if he finds his methods questionable.[11]
In general, their relationship occasionally involves some business arrangements, but outside of occasional gatherings (such as housewarden meetings) tend not to hang out since they are held at a distance due to their contrasting personalities and methods. This is emphasized by the fact that Azul cares more about exploiting the famous public image of Vil to expand the business of the Mostro Lounge.
Despite Vil's general intelligence, however, on more than one occasion Azul manages to get what he wants, like when he uses it to promote a drink through his Magicam account without his knowledge or spreads the unfounded rumor that he is his friend while handing out business cards of his local.
Relationships: Savanaclaw dorm
Leona Kingscholar: From the very first interaction during the opening ceremony, Vil and Leona are seen teasing each other with sarcastic jokes. In general Vil does not have a flattering opinion of Leona, describing him as lazy, unsentimental, and a leader totally incompetent at training his dormitory members. However, he is sometimes able to recognize points in his favor such as his beauty, strength and intelligence, although it repulses him to admit it.[5] He will often express exasperation over his unreliable attitude and, according to Ruggie, Vil harasses Leona over her fashion choices.[6][7]If necessary, however, they are able to cooperate despite their attempts to make themselves at the same time competitors for their common goal.[8][9]
Jack Howl: Vil and Jack grew up in the same neighborhood and they're on friendly terms. While living there, on Vil's birthday Jack once took him to a place where they had an exquisite view of the aurora.[10] They're shown to be going on morning jogs together at Night Raven College. In Book 5, it's revealed that they met as kids when Vil had just moved to the same town as Jack. Jack saved Vil from some bullies who associated Vil with the terrible villain he played on a TV drama claiming they were going to punish Vil on behalf of the hero of said show; a feat they claimed would be simple since Vil looked frail and easy to overpower. Before they got close enough to him, however, Jack lunged at the bullies who ran away frightened after seeing it's Jack. Jack asked Vil if he's okay, to which Vil replied that he takes boxing and fencing and did not need to be rescued. Jack apologizes, but Vil thanks him for what he did regardless, claiming he is used to "stupid kids that cannot separate fiction from reality". Jack tells him he doesn't have a TV so he doesn't quite get it, but the fact that he moved some kids into hating him this much must mean Vil is a pretty good actor.
Trivia
Outside of his school life, he works as a professional actor and model.[5] Azul claims that Vil holds records for the most runway appearances two seasons in a row.[6] He has over 5 million followers on Magicam, and is considered to be a prominent influencer.[6] Vil makes it a point to stay fit, and can easily take down strong opponents in physical fights. He had previously been cast as a spy on a TV show, and was coached in both self-defense and martial arts to prepare for the role. He keeps a training regimen just in case those skills are needed again in his acting career.[7] He once mentions having a former kickboxing champion as a personal trainer.[8] His dorm room features a pair of dumbbells on the floor, implying that he weight trains. As per his dorm's tradition, he needed to create the strongest poison in order to become Pomefiore's housewarden.[9] According to Rook, Vil wears 13 centimeter heels, which would imply his regular standing height is 196 cm. He once ate salad with mayonnaise and had horrible acne for three days. Vil was never interested in finding out who his mother was or if it was from her that he inherited his magical powers.[11] It is known, however, that his father is not a mage.
Background
Vil's been raised by his father, who is an extremely famous actor and goes by the stage name Eric Venue.[1] Possibly inspired by his father, Vil started acting from a young age, taking on roles in school dramas and TV shows. But Vil was always casted as the role of the villain or the bully, which started to bother Vil early on in his acting career. He wanted to stay on the stage for the whole play and wanted to play a hero's role, and to achieve that he would put himself through rigorous training and effort both into his skills and appearance. Yet he was never chosen for anything but a villain's role, which left him feeling frustrated. Despite his building negative feelings, Vil never stopped putting in the effort or giving up his hope as he was growing up.
Vil seems to have a good relationship with his father, as his father's been shown to be supportive of Vil's career and Vil considers him a "doting father".[2] Vil has mentioned that his dad would come home dressed in special effects makeup & costumes every Halloween,[3] and also used to read him stories about the Beautiful Queen.[4]
Personality
Vil is very fixated on beauty and doesn't spare any effort when it comes to achieving and maintaining it. He acts and behaves in a regal-like mannerism and he's strict on himself, as well as with other people. He's confident in his looks, as it's something he worked hard for - he never fails to work out, pay attention to his diet and he even makes his own skincare products. Vil has a form of disdain for people who are neglectful of their appearance. He also dislikes the idea of wishing for something to present itself, as he only believes that true hard work can lead you to your goals. he dislikes any blemishes, including natural ones like freckles.
Dorm Uniform
As the housewarden, Vil's dorm uniform somewhat differs from the rest of the Pomefiore students, the most distinguishing features being the length of his robe and his golden crown. Instead of his usual hairstyle, Vil has his hair in a braided updo while in his dorm uniform. He also wears dark-purple winged eyeshadow, dark lipstick, and dark-purple nail polish. The uniform consists of a violet robe, a black button-up shirt underneath, black pants, and black and gold heeled boots.
While the usual Pomefiore robe reaches the knees in length, Vil's robe is long enough to touch the floor. The underlining is deep-red, with an intricate baroque pattern depicting several poisoned apples. Also underneath most parts of the robe is a layer of black sheer fabric.
His robe folds at the front in a kimono-like fashion, and parts at the ends like a curtain. The sleeves open up at the shoulders, and reach the knees in length. Both sleeves have a gold, baroque pattern near the ends. The left shoulder of the robe also has this patterning, and includes the symbol of Pomefiore. On the chest area of the robe are three golden straps, with a design similar to that of a marching band uniform. Around his waist is a wide, black sash, with a red rope over it, tied on his left side. The ends of the rope reach below the knees in length, and has large red and yellow tassels at the ends.
The black button-up shirt worn underneath his robe has long sleeves and a white, wingtip collar. The ends of the sleeves have a lace-like pattern, and a single loop that goes around the middle finger. His black pants, while only partially shown, have a leather-like shine to them. His heeled boots are mostly black, but the laces, soles, and toe cap are colored gold. On the back of the boots is a gold baroque design.
Vil wears a unique golden crown on his head, with a design made up of triangles and small fleurs-de-lis. Near the center of the crown is an icon shaped like a heart with a dagger pierced through it.
Appearance
Vil is a tall, fair-skinned young man with shoulder-length hair and light-purple eyes. He has a very slim refined build but what one doesnât expect is under his form fitting attire he is rather muscular. His hair is light-blonde, and fades into a light-purple color at the tips. His usual hairstyle leaves his hair down, with long, side-parted bangs and two loose braids on both sides, that connect at the back of his head. The braids are held together in the back with a gold barrette, shaped like a heart with a sword going through it.
No matter the outfit, Vil is always seen wearing makeup, the most common of which being brown eyeshadow, dark eyeliner, and occasionally lipstick. Vil is often seen showing off a refined smile.
