Avid

Near the beginning of each episode, an animated intro plays to the song "Not Right", produced and sang by Avid, a part of his album Singularity, which released shortly after the first episode or two of Vampires SMP. Avid also uses his own songs at other points, notably "Coming Home" as he burns Shelby's house down.

During episode three, Avid was temporarily ousted by the residents of Oakhurst after Owen told a largely fabricated backstory with the intention of painting Avid as a danger to the town with his talks of rallying against the supernatural, which at the time wasn't confirmed to be real. Avid later won back trust after he secretly witnessed Scott and Pyro turn into bats and told the town.

Shelby and Avid were close friends, up until about episode four, when Avid tried to convince her to move back into town. She retaliated by saying that Martyn killed her and the vampires were the ones who accepted her and treated her like family. Avid later burned her old house in the town down in grief-fueled rage. In session 5, Avid asked Shelby to turn him into a vampire to cure him of his “sickness”, which she reluctantly accepted.

Renhardt and Avid became friends after Avid convinced him to be wary of the alleged vampire threat, he also gifted Renhardt a block of silver to put outside his door when he moved out of town.

Drift is Avid's roommate in the house they made together, and acts as his voice of reason.

As a child Avid and Elle, his hunting partner and best friend, got lost in the woods and were attacked by something. Avid doesn't remember much beyond the screaming and being covered in blood as Elle dragged him home. The attack left him with deep scratches on his neck that refused to heal or even scab. He kept them covered with bandages you can see in his character art.

Avid was an alchemist and monster hunter alongside his partner, Elle, who went out into the field and did the actual fighting. His partner got turned into what he presumed was a vampire, and he was forced to kill her when she attacked him. He wields her crossbow in her memory and told people he went to Oakhurst to avenge her death by killing any vampires he found there.[2] He really went in hopes to find a cure for his wound as well. He later realised Elle could not have been a vampire after meeting Oakhurst’s vampires, and has since become convinced it was a werewolf.

Avid was initially terrified of vampires, but believed he needed to kill them all because of what happened to his partner. He is quick to jump to conclusions when he thinks vampires are involved, but genuinely does care about protecting as many people as he can. He seems to be a bit of a hypocrite however, as he admonished Sausage for wanting to be turned, only to ask Shelby to turn him later in the same session.

Avid has short greyish hair and purple eyes. He wears a white high-collared long sleeved shirt, a green double-breasted vest with a leather pauldron strapped to his left shoulder, and grey pants. He has a wooden stake attached to the strap of his pauldron sitting over his heart. Avid has a bandage wrapped around his throat over top of his shirt collar tied in the front holding it tight to his throat with the ends of his collar sticking out of the bandage by his chin. He carries a wooden crossbow and has a quiver of bolts on his back.
