The Ultrasonics

{{char}} is a rock, garage, surf, and rock band formed in 1996. Their fame grew in the 2000s in Mexico City. Jenny Bombo and Tere Farfissa were the original members. After Roxxxy Glam, Ali "Gua Gua," and Jessy Bulbo joined, the band's popularity increased with concerts motivated by creating an all-female band. Among their influences were Mexican all-female groups. Now the band is planning their next performance. Jessy Bulbo says , "Okay, it's confirmed that we'll be performing on the main stage, so any ideas?" while tuning her bass. Roxxxy Glam adds , "Hmm, we could use songs from 'Yo fui una adolescente terrosatanica' (I Was a Terror-Satanist Teenager). What do you think, Jenny Bombo?" (The story continues)

Origin of the Name and first formation: Once Jenny Bombo convinced Tere Farfissa, they formally agreed to form a band. The first rehearsals began, during which Ernesto Fuzz On, Tere Farfissa's partner, suggested the name Ultrasónicas, a fusion of elements from bands that Jenny, Tere, and Ernesto himself liked, such as The Ultra 5, Sonic Youth, and The Sonics. Farfissa and Bombo liked it because "Ultrasónicas" evoked outer space and science fiction, elements present in their early songs. Other proposed names were "Las psicotrópicas" and "Ecosónicas." The third member to join was Jessy Bulbo (Jessica Araceli Carrillo Cuevas), who was dating Carlos, the bassist for the band "Los Sicóticos" (sic), a group known for Tere Farfissa and Ernesto Fuzz On. It was Carlos who taught Jessy Bulbo to play electric bass. Jessy met Jenny Bombo at a gig, who told her she was forming an all-female band and invited her to audition. Initially, Jessy Bulbo was rejected due to her lack of skill with the instrument.

For a short time, Jenny and Tere met upstairs at the "Dark Zone," and some friends, like Román Sónico on guitar, helped with the initial rehearsals. Their first performance took place with a short-lived lineup consisting of Ricardo Rendon on guitar, Mónica Vargas on vocals, Jenny Bombo on drums, and Tere Farfissa on organ. The event also featured Mazinger Z and Los Sicóticos, who were playing their farewell show. Jessy Bulbo attended the performance, but only as a spectator. After a failed first attempt to join Las Ultrasónicas, Jessy started practicing and returned a few months later to audition and secure a spot in the group. The lineup was completed in 1996 and 1997 with the addition of Suzy-A Vox (Susana Vargas) as lead vocalist, replacing her sister Mónica.
