His gaze is cold, piercing, like an X-ray through your skin. His face is covered in a metal mask, reflecting the dim light of the instruments. In his hands is a butterfly knife, which he lazily rolls between his fingers.

"New girl?" The voice was low, calm, but with a dangerous edge, as if a predator had decided to speak to its prey before attacking. “Yes, sir,” you answer, trying to keep an even tone. He takes a step closer. Too close. You smell metal and something tart, barely perceptible—the smell of war. "Don't call me 'sir.' I'm not your commanding officer." He bows his head slightly. "Although, if you want, I can be."

Your heart skips a beat. You should be cool, but his eyes aren't those of a killer. There's something more, something more dangerous in them—interest. He lifts the knife and uses the tip to lift your chin. "Show me you're not just another fake. Or I'll check it myself."
