Whisper is an anthropomorphic wolf with biscotti fur that covers most of her body, and brown fur that covers her muzzle, inside of her ears, arms, upper torso, and front torso. She has thick black eyelashes and cloudy white fur around her eyes that resemble a mask. Her eyes are cadet blue, although they are often closed to the point of squinting up. She wears light gray eyeshadow and has a long, bushy tail which ends in several tufts of fur sticking out in various directions. She also has a black nose, long-pointed ears and quite long hair that she keeps tied at the back in a ponytail with a black hair tie, save for a long, thick hair bang that slightly covers her right eye. Her pointed cheeks are a little fluffy. Her fangs protrude from her mouth which is often in a natural frown. For attire, Whisper wears a cream-colored tube top, light gray leggings, and a dark gray cloak, in which she keeps six Wisp canisters. The cloak also has black and dark gray pockets seen on the shoulders, she sometimes takes off the cloak when off-battle. Whisper wears an outfit geared towards combat. This includes dark gray arm sleeves with black elbow pads, dark gray and light gray gloves with visible black claws, and dark gray knee sleeves with black knee pads. She sports military-fashioned black, dark gray, and light gray boots.

In the past, Whisper was more excitable and bubbly. Even then, she still took missions and fights seriously. She also used to be more outspoken, eloquent, and joyful, but due to the trauma that Dr. Eggman and Mimic had caused her by the demise of her friends, she grew more silent and reserved. Since then, she's been more shy, cautious, and distrustful of others, preferring to be out of the spotlight and in hiding. During battles or missions, she's very focused and determined, prefers not to let her emotions get the better of herself in order to complete her goals. However, confronting Eggman or someone related can make her lose her temper and get real angry. Her personal weakness in particular is the trauma she endured due to Mimic and Eggman. Combined with her unwillingness to be close to others, she's reluctant to share these memories with others and usually requires extra support in order to open up. Despite this, she's an heroic person, ready to save even people she just met, and doesn't want her friends to feel the pain of losing loved ones like she had. Whisper is very much a lone wolf, so to speak. Keeping to herself, she prefers to do her own thing and work on her own rather than cooperate directly with others. That's illustrated by the fact that while she assisted the Resistance during the war, she never actually joined or revealed herself to them. Despite this, people like Sonic are able to convince her to come out of her shell and collaborate. Over time, she's grown more confident with her new friendships, which has caused her to reveal her most emotional side in the worst of situations. When finding out Mimic killed himself, Whisper seemed to have let go of most of her trauma and started to allow herself to be truly happy alongside her friends.

Heroic, optimistic, and just as fearless as Sonic, Tangle is scrappy and loves to tangle with bad guys. Not intimidated by danger in the slightest, she has a thirst for adventure and excitement and craves new challenges for herself. As such, she is capable of heading into mortal peril and face deadly odds, all while wearing a smile on her face and having the time of her life. However, her desire for adventure makes her reckless and prone to charging headlong into danger without a care in the world. She can also be somewhat careless in battle, like using her tail in a way that gets it injured and getting so caught up in her own excitement that she forgets to watch out for enemies. Possessing a strong sense of justice, Tangle is more than willing to aid her friends in any way that she can, even when she is denied. Tangle is loud, extroverted, and easily excitable, but also friendly, polite, helpful, and open. While having seen and overcome her own fair share of challenges in the form of Badniks, she is a novice heroine and the world still continues to amaze her. As such, she has seen little of the more outlandish subjects that exist out in the world, like a pyrokinetic princess from another dimension who guards fiery Emeralds. While such concepts tend to leave her speechless, she is nonetheless quick to be amazed by them. Whenever she sees or reflects on something exciting, she tends to get starry-eyed.[18][19][15] When reacting to a sudden sound or event, the hairs on her tail stand up.[12][20][21]

Described as pretty, Tangle is a slim, anthropomorphic ring-tailed lemur with orchid-purple eyes with dark gray eyelids and one thin eyelash each, a small black nose, and who's fur has a color scheme that leans more to a Coquerel's sifaka. Her fur is light gray, with her muzzle, between her eyes and on her round ears are colored in a darker, silver-like shade of gray, and with her large bushy tail being striped in two shades of gray. Her fur also formed tufts on top of her head, both of her cheeks, and on her chest. For attire, Tangle wears a small, cropped, amber-yellow sleeveless top over a short-sleeved black bodysuit with dark orange stripes on the sides, and detailed amber-colored hi-tops with white shoelaces and soles, black details and dark orange cuffs. She accessorizes with amber sports tape around her forearms, and fingerless gloves made from black sports tape with dark orange backings.

Bold and fearless, Amy is a proactive go-getter that goes after what she wants and lets nothing get in her way, possessing a proactive streak. Likewise, she is an intuitive activist, which usually means she acts before thinking things through. Amy is described as an "energetic tomboy", though by time, she is shown to have traditional feminine interests nonetheless, such as shopping and fashion. Despite her assertiveness though, it has not come at the expense of her sense of femininity. Amy also hates boredom and loves thrills and excitement. Amy is very open and expressive about her feelings and emotions, always speaking her mind and never letting her feelings get bottled up inside. As such, Amy can be quite obsessive and aggressive, especially when it comes to her infatuations with Sonic. Amy has a kind heart and never gives up, having a strong belief in fate and destiny. Her faith in her tarot cards led her to the fated encounter that brought Sonic into her life. Amy regularly talks about the power of love and true love and strongly believes in the merit of dreams and wishes. Amy is also an optimist, and is usually very cheerful and possesses a positive outlook on life. She is always full of hope and is always cheering on for the good side of things. Amy has a very strong sense of empathy and a surprising capability for caring. She is very encouraging and is more than willing to reach out to all kinds of people.

Amy is a pink-furred anthropomorphic hedgehog with bright green eyes and peach skin covering her muzzle, inner ears and arms. She has a small black nose, triangular ears on top of her head, and no back spines. She also has two medium-length eyelashes on each side of her eyes. Additionally, her five short head quills point downwards, somewhat resembling a bob cut. She also has three spikes for bangs on her head and a short pointy tail. For attire, she sports a red sleeveless and backless dress with two white trims and a white petticoat underneath, tall red boots with a white stripe down the center, white cuffs and gray soles with chunky heels, a red hairband, and white wrist-length gloves with gold bracelets.

*A noble soul and strong lady, Blaze is highly devoted to the well-fare of her people, her motto being "My power is to protect the smiles of my people." She is normally rather calm and solemn but tends to conceal her true feelings. She is also often described as elegant, which is demonstrated through her body movements and her ballerina-like fighting style. Being royalty, Blaze is quite stoic personality-wise, which is a perfect example of the spirit of the noblesse oblige, as she is very frequently doing her official duties, but still tries to do her best for everyone's peace. Because of her lineage and her stoicism, she is sometimes too distant from those around her, but that is also the flip side of her good nature. She likewise always sticks to her personal principles, which means doing the best she can with pride in the position she is in. This may be the source of Blaze's strength, and it may also be what makes her so appealing. Blaze is mannerly and typically maintains a relatively quiet and formal air among others. She also usually speaks in a polite and ladylike tone. While Blaze gives the impression that she keeps her emotions in check, she is inwardly highly emotional.

Blaze is a slim and lavender-furred anthropomorphic cat with golden eyes and a pair of long eyelashes on each one, a small black nose and a white-furred muzzle. She has triangular ears with peach-colored canals on top of her head and a long tail with the end being frayed and tipped with violet countershading. Her fur is longer on each side of her head and sweeps slightly upwards and she has four plumes of hair which are tipped with her fur's countershading and tied-up into a high ponytail by a red hair tie. Rouge is a strong-minded female bat with a collected and convivial voice. Nothing short of an enigma, she is a person of many mysteries, always playing an active role on both sides of the truth in many global affairs. Her appeal is very complex, but it is not too far off to describe her as an elusive, mysterious, and mature woman who is true to her desires. To most people, Rouge appears as a brave, ambitious, independent, flirtatious, greedy, calculating narcissist who only thinks about herself and treasure. She is referred to as a temptress, due to her seductive ways. A gem-enthusiast, Rouge specializes in gem heists and gem-based treasure hunts, and has an unquenchable thirst for gemstones. However, a jewel that she cannot actually hold in her hand has no value to her, although a beautiful scenery matching the finest of jewels is equally valuable to her. Rouge's carefree and playful devil-may-care attitude can be fun to some people, like the easygoing Sonic, or annoying for others, like the gruff Knuckles. While she may appear ditzy though, Rouge is in truth a cunning, calculative, and pragmatic realist; though she pretends to know nothing, she always manages to gets closer to the heart of the matter than anyone else; she shows lax behavior but manages to conduct delicate research. Rouge can also show a bashful side, but she masks It, and can also be a bit of a hypocrite, especially in regard to thefts. Cunning, confident, sassy and fearless, Rouge knows how to get what she wants. While she might appear to be ditsy and carefree at first glance, her mind is always actively scheming and making up new strategic plans. A calculating and manipulative realist who can arrange situations to go the way she wants them to, she acts mainly on her mercenary instincts. Because her motivations do not always appear as what they seem at first, Rouge is quite enigmatic, and her intentions are not always entirely clear.

Rouge is an anthropomorphic bat with white fur, turquoise-green eyes with two large eyelashes on each one, tan skin and a curvy figure. She has large pointy ears, small fangs, a small black nose on her muzzle, a short pointy tail, and a pair of dark purple wings on her back. Only her head appears to have fur, which flares out into six points at the back. Rouge usually wears makeup consisting of powder-blue eyeshadow and pink lipstick. For attire, Rouge wears a black bodysuit which includes a skin-tight and strapless low-cut unitard that sports a pink, heart-shaped chestplate outlined with thin white-trimming. She also wears elbow-length white gloves and thigh-high high-heeled boots with pink cuffs to match them, with the latter featuring both gray soles and heels, along with steel toes in the appearance of pink hearts, matching her leotard's chestplate.

Knuckles is independent, wild, hot-blooded, tough, and a loner by nature. Due to having lived in seclusion for most of his life, Knuckles is a rather antisocial and reclusive individual. As such, he cares very little about what others think, which makes him bluntly honest, straightforward, and somewhat egotistical. When not busy, Knuckles prefers spending his time practicing his fighting skills, going treasure hunting, or hanging out with his friends. Knuckles is usually solemn, stoic, and collected, and usually likes to be by himself. As stubborn as he is tough, he is as well headstrong and inflexible, preferring to do things his way, which causes him to clash with others. Regardless, he is very strong-willed, seldom wavering in his determination, and will not give up on his goals once he has set them. While he is cool and determined in battle, the echidna has an extremely short and wild temper and is hard to reason with when he is angry, which has more than once gotten him into trouble. Despite being a silent loner, Knuckles is a heroic, brave, kind-hearted, and selfless soul. While unwilling to forgive evil people, he will risk his own life to save anyone or get them out of trouble and shows empathy for others. He is likewise a loyal and caring friend, who is always willing to help his friends out in tight situations and will do anything to protect them. When not angered, the echidna is pretty laid-back and never cracks under pressure. He can also be very understanding of the sly and does not take kindly to people who disrespect or hurt his friends, or innocents, in any way. Having been living much of his life in isolation, Knuckles grew up believing in honesty and holds a firm and steadfast belief that there is good in everyone, which always lets him give people second chances. Because of his lack of social ingenuity, however, it makes him very naive, incredibly gullible, fast about forgiving people, and easily misled.

Knuckles is an anthropomorphic echidna with red fur that covers most of his body, a black nose on his peach-skinned muzzle, a white and crescent-shaped patch of fur on his chest and sharp teeth (only visible when he is smirking or angry). He also has a septet of dreadlock-like spines around the sides and back of his head and a medium-sized and tri-crooked tail. For attire, Knuckles wears red and yellow shoes with green cuffs, light gray soles, and metallic and sextuple-bolted plates on top. He also wears large, white and mitten-like gloves with sock-like cuffs and a pair of pointy and spiked knuckles on each hand.

Silver is a kind-hearted and optimistic individual who always wears his heart on his sleeve. He's driven by a strong sense of hope and wants nothing more than peace. Although his forthright and passionate nature can make him naïve or abrasive. He's best described as having a "strong sense of justice" or the "emblematic of hope", as he is relentlessly optimistic and never backs down from a challenge, and also being described as mysterious and enigmatic on several occasions, with not much being known about him. Although usually serious on the outside, Silver is young and somewhat immature. He has been described as rash, and reckless, but that doesn't mean, however, that he is incompetent. With little information to draw upon, he lets his intuition guide him, but as a relatively isolated person, he has little understanding of interpersonal relations or the subtle tools of manipulators.

Silver (as his name states) is a silver anthropomorphic hedgehog with white fur on his chest surrounding his neck, eyes that have an upturned angular shape with black patterns at their edges plus gold irises and peach skin that covers his muzzle, and the insides of his ears. He has a black nose on his muzzle, and two large quills at the back of his head, while on the front of his forehead, there are five distinct bangs flared up and back, the two final ones covering up most of his small cat ears and a short pointy tail. For attire, he wears white gloves with aqua circles with lines sticking out of the bottom leading to his gold cuffs accented with aqua lines curved in a convex shape. The tops of his boots are of a similar fashion with a red gem set in gold. The rest of his boots are navy blue with a white stripe down the center, aqua toes, and gray soles with four aqua hexagons.

Being Sonic's polar opposite personality-wise, Shadow is, in simple terms, a brooding loner. He usually acts with a cool and business-like indifference, only occasionally showing his vulnerable side. He's rarely seen with others for an extended period of time and usually distances himself from essentially everyone as a natural introvert. He's usually blunt and does not speak much, but he always knows exactly what to say in combat. However, Shadow never bluffs; if he makes a threat, he has every intention of carrying it out. As the most violent and merciless of the team at times, Shadow's ruthlessness and aggression leads to enemies never treating him lightly. Alongside his dark and violent demeanor, Shadow can be smug and stubborn. He usually treats others in a very callous manner, throwing in his opinion no matter how cold-hearted it is and not caring for whatever the response is. Shadow possesses a strong sense of identity. In Shadow's own words, he is not interested in peace, nor does he care about what happens to others. In truth, he simply does not like it when foolish people do whatever they please.

Shadow is a black-furred anthropomorphic hedgehog. He has red eyes, a patch of white fur on his chest, a black nose, a tan muzzle and small cat ears with tan canals. He also has a sextet of quills on his head, four of which curve upwards while the other two curve downwards, a pair of quills on his back and a short and pointy tail. He has red stripes on each of his head quills, around the edges of his eyes and on his arms and legs. For attire, Shadow wears white gloves with black cuffs and red tongues, and Air Shoes which, like his gloves, have black cuffs and red tongues. Shadow also wears Limiter Rings, one on each of his wrists and ankles.

Sonic is described as "like the wind", free-spirited and with an insatiable appetite for adventure. He values freedom above all and lives by his own rules rather than societal standards. Sonic's primary passion is speed, he likes anything that is fast. Sonic has a calm and carefree demeanor but can be impatient, impulsive and short-tempered, he can be reckless, quick to act before thinking, acting before thinking and ignoring others' warnings. Nevertheless, he is honest, fearless, and always keeps his promises. Sonic's personality is a juxtaposition of kindness and ferocity. He has a very strong sense of justice, but fights for the ideal of freedom rather the name of the law. He is also very selfless, always standing for the underdog without expecting anything in return, motivated by personal entertainment, indifferent to his fame, and will always do what he sees as correct. Sonic has a very strong will and believes that he can do anything as long as he is brave enough, never doubting himself or giving up. He thinks that he and his friends will always find a way out of any situation and views himself as unstoppable, taking great pride in his skills.
