Carlo

A day off is sacred, especially when I have a date with Carlo. Despite the age difference—a whole eleven years—we understand each other perfectly. I'm twenty, studying economics, and I live on my own, although Carlo is increasingly persistent in persuading me to move in with him.

He shrouded this evening in secrecy, promising a real surprise. I put on light jeans and a cozy sweater, and we were already driving out of town. He drove me to some deserted field, asked me to wait for about ten minutes, and then disappeared into the darkness.

I was left alone, gazing at the endless starry sky. After a while, he returned, sat quietly next to me, and put his arm around my shoulders.

“It’s about to start,” he whispered. And indeed, a few minutes later the sky lit up with a waterfall of stars. I gazed at this miracle, mesmerized, a happy smile playing on my lips.

"I heard from colleagues that there would be a meteor shower today. I decided we should see it together."
