Offensive Magic: Zoltraak｢, Zorutorāku ?｣一般攻撃魔法ゾルトラーク : The only offensive magic Fern uses. Having practiced it since she was young, she knows it very well and is capable of launching multiple Zoltraak blasts extremely quickly. Additionally, she is able to increase the density of her Zoltraak blasts while maintaining speed, a feat praised by the Greater Demon Solitär.

Defensive Magic｢, Bōgyo mahō ?｣防ぼう御ぎょ魔ま法ほう : Like most modern mages, Fern is capable of casting defensive magic in the form of hexagonal protective barriers that can defend specific locations or surround the caster. With its use, she was able to block multiple blasts from her creator's Zoltraak.
Flight Magic: Allows the caster to levitate and maneuver through the air. Fern can sustain flight for at least half an hour, according to her own estimation.

Floating Spell｢をかす, Mono o ukasu mahō ｣simもの浮う魔ま法ほう: A telekinetic spell that makes the target float in the air. This spell was primarily used by Fern for everyday tasks and missions, such as clearing debris from a beach. However, she is also seen using it in combat to pull her staff into her hand.

Spell to make clothes clean and spotless ｢のれをきれいさっぱりとす, Fuku no yogore o kirei sappari otosu mahō ｣服ふく汚よごsimお魔ま法ほう : A legendary spell from the mythical era that was granted to Fern by the Serie for passing the First-Class Mage Exam. Any clothing Fern casts the spell on becomes clean, spotless, and infused with a pleasant floral scent.

From a young age, Fern demonstrated a talent for controlling her mana and limiting its presence. Fern is capable of subduing powerful mages, such as Ehre, using only basic magic, and, according to Falsch, she is the youngest mage in history to pass the Third-Class Mage Exam with the highest score. Her talent is also recognized by Serie, who passes her in the First-Class Mage Exam and even claims that, under her tutelage, Fern could reach heights no other mage has achieved.
Mana Concealment: Much like Frieren, Fern is adept at concealing her mana, a skill she has maintained since childhood. As a result, she can often sneak up on individuals, including demons, undetected. She was able to catch the powerful demon Lügner off guard, which greatly surprised him, as her subordinate Linie's skilled mana detection would normally expose human mages.
Mana Detection: Fern has demonstrated greater skill at detecting mana than any other individual introduced thus far. She was able to determine that Serie's mana was unstable, something not even Lernen, the first First Class Mage and Serie's apprentice for over fifty years, was able to achieve. This feat was impressive enough for Serie to request Fern as her apprentice on the spot, despite initially planning to disapprove.
Casting Speed: While inferior to Frieren in terms of skills and mana, Fern's strength lies in her ability to cast spells quickly. According to Frieren, battles end faster when Fern fights. When Fern fought Lügner, she was able to overcome his attempts to survive her in a battle of attrition because she was able to cast multiple instances of Zoltraak simultaneously and in quick succession to counter or even overwhelm his attacks.

As a mage, Fern wields a long wooden staff wrapped in purple ribbons in battle, which was a gift from Heiter.

Fern is a young human woman with purple eyes and long, waist-length purple hair with bangs. She usually wears her hair loose, with two additional chest-length strands framing her face in a hime-style haircut, partially pinned back. After turning sixteen, Fern grew taller than Frieren and had a more developed figure. As a result of her mature and calm personality, she often wears a stoic expression and rarely expresses strong emotions. Her facial features are characteristic of those of the Southlands.
During her travels with Frieren, Fern is most commonly seen wearing a long, buttoned-down white dress with a Victorian top, including a ruffled collar and puffed white sleeves, along with black boots. When outdoors, she also wears a long, black, hooded coat with a gray undercoat. For Fern's sixteenth birthday, Frieren presented her with a butterfly hair ornament, which Fern regularly wears at the back of her head to partially pin her hair back.

Fern has a mature personality as a result of her upbringing, leading her to often act as the team's mother.
Despite her outwardly maternal nature, Fern is easily upset and can act childishly when others don't meet her needs or offend her, and in extreme cases, pouting and completely ignoring them when they try to make amends, though this can be resolved through actions such as treating her with food and obeying her demands. She also has a habit of following and observing others when she's suspicious or curious about them, rather than confronting them directly.

Fern is also a very loyal learner and has the discipline to train incredibly hard from a young age so she could stand on her own two feet, eventually becoming a powerful mage recognized by Frieren. She rarely cracks under pressure and is able to maintain a cool head in combat, despite sustaining injuries and fighting opponents more powerful or experienced than her. Her devotion to learning magic stems from the loss of her parents at a young age and her subsequent adoption by Heiter.
