Big Billy (full name William W. Williams) is the brawny and unintelligent member of the Gangreen Gang from the animated TV series The Powerpuff Girls. He is one of the five green-skinned teen villains who primarily serve as nuisances rather than a major criminal threat to the city of Townsville.

Role: As the largest and strongest of the group, Big Billy acts as the gang's muscle, though his low intelligence often makes him more of a hindrance than a help.

Other facial features: His face is round and features a small, dark green, round nose, freckles, and a single tooth that hangs under his lip.

Clothing Top: He wears a large, green T-shirt with two yellow lines on each sleeve. Bottoms: He wears blue jeans cinched with a black belt. Footwear: His outfit is completed with black and white sneakers.

Big Billy's personality is defined by his low intelligence and childlike innocence, which often clash with his role as the Gangreen Gang's brutish muscle. He is more of a follower than a true villain, often unaware of the harm he causes and easily directed by the gang's leader, Ace.

Simple-minded and naive: Big Billy lacks a sophisticated understanding of right and wrong. He commits petty crimes and acts mean because Ace tells him to, not out of inherent malice. Friendly and cheerful: Outside of his criminal activities, he can be a very pleasant and upbeat individual. This is best shown in the episode "Slave the Day," when he tries to help the Powerpuff Girls after they save him, though his extreme clumsiness ends up causing more problems than his villainy.

Loyal and easily manipulated: He is very loyal to the Gangreen Gang and Ace, readily following orders without question. However, this loyalty can be exploited by others, as seen in "Slave the Day" when he pledged his allegiance to the Powerpuff Girls. Can be pushed too far: While generally easygoing, he can be pushed to his limit. Ace sometimes takes his abusive behavior too far, which can cause Big Billy to briefly lose his temper.

Refers to himself in the third person: His low intellect is also conveyed through his speech, as he frequently refers to himself as "Billy".

First appearance and early history Early short film: Along with the rest of the Gangreen Gang, Big Billy made his first appearance in the pilot short "Whoopass Stew," which predated the 1998 animated series.

First full episode: His first proper appearance in the full series was the episode "Buttercrush," which aired on December 9, 1998. In the episode, he and the gang initially outwit the girls, but are later defeated.

The Powerpuff Girls movie: The Gangreen Gang appeared in The Powerpuff Girls Movie, which retconned their first meeting with the girls. They are portrayed as the first villains the girls encounter.

Saved by the Powerpuff Girls: After getting stuck on a train track, the Powerpuff Girls rescue Big Billy from an oncoming train. Loyalty to the girls: Due to a skewed sense of honor, Billy abandons the Gangreen Gang and pledges his eternal service to the girls.

Well-meaning but destructive: Although he has a friendly and upbeat personality when not with the gang, Big Billy's attempts to help the girls are clumsy and end up causing more harm and destruction. Returned to the gang: Blossom eventually loses her patience with him and yells at him to leave, causing him to return to the gang.

A final rescue: However, when the Gangreen Gang later traps the Powerpuff Girls on the same train tracks, Big Billy has a change of heart and saves them from the same fate he almost suffered.

Later history School attendance: He and the rest of the Gangreen Gang were later forced to attend kindergarten by a truant officer. "See Me, Feel Me, Gnomey": Big Billy, along with other villains, appears in the musical rock episode "See Me, Feel Me, Gnomey". The episode gives him a brief singing solo where he appears remorseful of his villainous actions. The Gorillaz: In 2018, the gang's leader, Ace, temporarily joined the virtual band Gorillaz. The canonical status of this development within The Powerpuff Girls universe is unclear.

Physical abilities Superhuman strength: As the muscle of the Gangreen Gang, Big Billy is incredibly strong. He relies on his brute force to execute the gang's misdeeds. Exceptional durability: His large, heavy frame gives him a degree of resilience, as seen in his ability to withstand punishment.

Unique temporary power In the episode "Power Lunch," the members of the Gangreen Gang eat different food items and gain temporary powers based on what they consumed. Big Billy's power was: Rock transformation: After eating hard candy, he gained the ability to transform his body into solid rock. In this form, he was invulnerable, though he remained completely still.

Insatiable appetite: According to HIM, Big Billy's greatest sin is gluttony, and he has been known to eat massive amounts of junk food. Inverted text reading: He has shown the strange ability to read text that is upside-down, a feat demonstrated when he read a bedtime story for the Powerpuff Girls.

Limitations Big Billy's powers are offset by his significant limitations: Low intelligence: He is incredibly dim-witted and has a childlike, simple-minded innocence. He is easily manipulated by the more cunning members of his gang, particularly Ace.
