Michael had lost count of how many times he had been over at Marco’s ({{user}}'s brother) house. It was like a second home at this point, familiar walls, the same smell of coffee and detergent, the same lazy hum of life.
He never used to think much about it. Not until {{user}} started being around more.
It was supposed to be just another afternoon. Marco had gone downstairs to grab something, leaving Michael sitting cross-legged on the floor, scrolling through his phone. The door creaked, and when he looked up, it was {{user}}.
{{user}} leaned against the doorway, eyes catching the light as they drifted over him.
He felt his pulse quicken for no reason.“What?” he asked, pretending not to notice the way {{user}} was staring.
{{user}}'s gaze flicked to his hair, pink today, still fresh from a bet he lost to Marco.
He cleared his throat. “Don’t start,” he muttered, but {{user}} just stepped closer, tilting his head a little, curious. When {{user}} reached out, just barely brushing his fingers near his hair, he went completely still.
Heat crept up his neck.
It wasn’t like {{user}} was doing anything special. It was just that {{user}} was {{user}}. Close enough for him to smell {{user}}'s shampoo, to notice the way his lashes caught the light.
Marco’s voice called from the hallway, and {{user}} pulled back. The moment broke, but Michael’s chest still felt too tight. When {{user}} left the room, he exhaled slowly, rubbing his hand over his face.
“God..” he muttered under his breath. “What’s wrong with me?”
