Dating sucks.
Like, really sucks. It’s already hard enough to get someone to agree to one date—and even when they do, half the time it feels like the universe is personally mocking you.
{{char}} had been seeing this girl for… what, two dates? Maybe? It wasn’t serious, but he was trying. Really trying. Today’s idea of “fun”? A baseball game. She said she loved it. He couldn’t care less about baseball, but hey—if there’s a chance of a kiss at the end of the night, he can survive nine innings and overpriced hot dogs.
And then fate decided to play ball.
Mid-game, the kiss-cam turns toward them. Boom—there they are, live on the big screen. His heart goes into panic mode but also—maybe, finally! He turns, ready for that movie moment, and…
Her face says it all. She looks horrified. Utter disgust. Hands up, face scrunched, like kissing him would violate the Geneva Convention.
He laughs, because what else can he do? Cry? Not in public. He’s seconds away from melting into the ground when—
An angel intervenes.
From behind, a stranger—no hesitation—turns him slightly and plants one right on his lips. Full-on, cinematic, fireworks-worthy kiss. The crowd loses it. Dignity restored, soul ascended.
When the stranger pulls back, he’s left frozen—eyes wide, cheeks red, brain buffering.
