Mizuki Akiyama

(Japanese: 暁あき山やま瑞みず希き, Akiyama Mizuki) is a second-year student at Kamiyama High School. She is the animator for the underground music club 25-ji, Nightcord de. Her nickname in the group is "Amiya."

Responsible for video editing at 25-ji, Nightcord de. Mizuki worries about Mafuyu due to her strained relationship with her mother, but at the same time feels helpless in the current situation, unable to reveal her own secrets. Mizuki knows from experience that even running away can yield something valuable, so one day she shares with Mafuyu that running away is perfectly normal.

Akiyama Mizuki is an animator and video maker. He uploads his music videos online. Kei's music captivated Mizuki and even inspired him to create a music video for one of his songs. After watching the video, Kei invited Mizuki to join his music club, 25-ji, Nightcord de.

Mizuki's older sister, a fashion designer who now lives abroad, instilled in her a love of fashion.

Since elementary school, Mizuki has been treated as an outcast because of her style and behavior. As a child, the cute clothes her older sister made evoked both genuine admiration and compliments, as well as criticism from her peers. Tired of the constant teasing, Mizuki one day asks her sister if it wouldn't be better to give up the pleasure of wearing cute clothes. Yuki supports Mizuki, advising her to follow her passions and embrace her favorite style, but honestly warns that criticism from others will be painful.

Mizuki often expresses frustration at the disdain she faces, wondering why people are so judgmental. It's hinted that the negative attention she receives from her classmates is the reason Mizuki rarely attends school. In middle school, Mizuki spends most of her time on the rooftop and meets Rui, one of her only friends before 25-ji.[3]

In their first year at Kamiyama High School, Mizuki and An were in class 1-A together. In their second year, they moved to class 2-B with Toya.

Mizuki has light pink eyes and slightly curly hair, pulled back into a side ponytail and secured with a ribbon. Two straight strands of hair frame her face. Mizuki's appearance is distinguished from the other characters by a single long pink eyelash.

Casual outfit The initial casual outfit consists of a slate-gray pleated knee-length skirt with two side frills and suspenders, flowing into a loose white button-down shirt. Her hair is held back with a black bow, and her bow tie is a ribbon of similar material from the brand "CubeRouge," whose logo is written in gold along one of the pleats.

In her second year, her everyday attire consists of a gray blouse with white trim on the collar, sleeves, and buttons. Her long pink pants have a dark pink lace pattern down the center of each leg, along with pink suspenders. Her belt is slightly ruffled, pale pink, and has a silver round buckle. Mizuki wears a pastel-burgundy bow with a heart-shaped pendant in her hair.

Unit outfit The unit's initial attire is a black sailor uniform. The uniform's collar is light gray with a black and pink ribbon. The gray and light-striped skirt is decorated with ruffles and lace at the hem. The outer layer of the skirt is held in place on the left side by a ribbon, revealing the inner layers. Black thigh-high socks and strappy heels complete the look.

In their second year, the unit's attire consists of a gray blouse with black lace trim on the sleeves and two bows—one brown, one gray—at the collar. Over the blouse is a black dress, fading to gray with a print of gray daisies, and the hem is decorated with white ruffles. The dress has a black headband with a black belt and a silver buckle in the shape of two hearts at the waist. Gray stockings, black boots, and a black ribbon with a tail complete the look.

Mizuki is a moody person, and in Kanade's opinion, he does what he thinks is right. Mizuki strives to express himself freely and becomes upset when he becomes the target of ridicule. Mizuki expresses himself through homemade outfits and a passion for cute things.

Despite his energetic, carefree, and sometimes downright childish behavior, in most cases, as Ena admits, it is Mizuki who proves to be the most mature member of their circle; for example, he often takes on the role of mediator in conflicts between Ena and Mafuyu.

Mizuki is highly attuned to others' emotions and can sense changes in tension and atmosphere within the group. Despite this, Mizuki prefers to maintain a distance, hiding her true feelings and secrets even from her closest friends. Mizuki understands the difficulties other members of the circle face, but fears the rejection that could result from being too open. Perhaps she maintains her secrecy in part because she understands that everyone has secrets they prefer to keep to themselves.

Akiyama (暁山): Aki (暁) means "dawn, sunrise" and Yama (山) means "mountain".

Mizuki (瑞希): Mizu (瑞) means "congratulations," while Ki (希) means "hope." This name is gender-neutral.

The nickname Amia is inspired by the name of the villain Mia from Mizuki's favorite anime.

Yoisaki Kanade: A fellow circle member and close friend, Mizuki feels grateful to Kanade for accepting everyone as they are. Initially reluctant to interfere in her personal affairs, Mizuki eventually helps her search for the flowerbed from her memories during the Carnation Recollection event. During their search, she admits that Kanade's songs helped Mizuki during a difficult time in the past. Mizuki considers Kanade an amazing and caring person and notes that her songs were Mizuki's motivation to move forward.

Asahina Mafuyu: A fellow circle member and close friend. Mafuyu thinks Mizuki has an overly obsessive attitude towards her appearance, while Mizuki is deeply concerned about Mafuyu, understanding her personality issues better than anyone else in 25-ji. Mizuki is also a bit jealous of her, as she is constantly pushing forward and trying to find herself, while Mizuki remains stagnant, hesitant to reveal her secret to anyone in 25-ji.[8] Mizuki later gives Mafuyu advice that helps her confront her mother. Mafuyu's courage in telling her true feelings to her father prompted Mizuki to tell Ena her secret.

Shinonome Ena: A fellow circle member and close friend. They get along well and often hang out, as they share many common interests. Mizuki enjoys teasing her and stalks her social media. Most of the Nightcord chats consist of their bickering. When Ena notices that Mizuki is acting more distant with them during the Mystery Tour, she organizes a picnic in an attempt to help Mizuki open up to her. Later, during the "My Footsteps, Your Steps" event, Ena says she's willing to wait as long as it takes for Mizuki to tell her his secret. Mizuki is relieved and grateful for her support, but also feels guilty for not being able to do so yet. In the "Where Do Thorns Lead?" event, Mizuki finally decides to tell Ena her secret, but classmate A, thinking she already knows, teasingly reveals it first.

Tenma Saki: They became friends after the "Bustling Cafe ●REC!" event. They worked together on orders at the cafe. They have similar personalities and want everything to be perfect.

Hinomori Shiho: They became friends after the events of "Next to the Unchanging Warmth." Mizuki recognizes Shiho from her sister's stories, and they become close as they search for suitable clothes for Shizuku. Shiho admires Mizuki's fashion sense.

Hanasato Minori: They first met after Minori's performance in "Scramble: Fan Festival!", after which Mizuki promised to be present at all MORE MORE JUMP! broadcasts. They worked together at the cafe during the "Bustling Cafe ●REC" event!

Momoi Airi: They became friends during the "What's On Your Mind? Exciting Picnic!" event. Airi is happy that Ena has such a good friend and advises Mizuki to turn to her if anything is bothering her.

Hinomori Shizuku: Initially, Mizuki only knew Shizuku as an idol. They met in person through Ena during the "Tell Me Your Worries! Exciting Picnic" event. Like Airi, they bonded over makeup and fashion.

Azusawa Kohane: They briefly met at the Kamiyama School Festival, after which Mizuki ran away, not wanting to interrupt her time with An.

Shiraishi An: A former classmate and close friend. They enjoy talking about fashion, and Mizuki often teases An with scary stories. She seems well aware of the difficulties Mizuki goes through. For example, she thoughtfully invites her to the Kamiyama school festival only because she knows Mizuki won't stand out among the crowd of people in costumes. When Ena asked how Mizuki is doing at school,[14] An, sensing Mizuki's discomfort with the topic, only talked about grades and attendance, avoiding any awkward topics, earning Mizuki's gratitude. They were also first-year classmates in Class 1-A.

Shinonome Akito: Mizuki initially knows Akito only as Ena's younger brother and occasionally hears his voice in the background of her calls in Nightcord. They first met in "KAMIYAMA HIGH FESTIVAL!", where Mizuki recognizes his voice. Afterward, Mizuki starts calling him "little brother" (弟く, otouto-kun), much to Akito's annoyance. They become friends in "A Gentleman Thief's Thrilling White Day?!"

Aoyagi Toya: They met at the KAMIYAMA HIGH FESTIVAL!. Mizuki, Toya, and Akito watched Tsukasa perform together. Toya was happy that Mizuki enjoyed the performance of someone close to him. They became classmates in their second year.

Tenma Tsukasa: Mizuki's first impression of Tsukasa was the performance of "Romeo and Juliet: Battle Royale," which his class put on during the Kamiyama School Festival. Mizuki thought the play was hilarious, but Tsukasa's dedication and passion for performing were admirable.

Kamishiro Rui: "Longtime Friend." They became close in middle school, being outcasts and hanging out together on the rooftop. Although Mizuki is quite hostile toward Rui when they first meet, they quickly bonded after realizing they were very similar. When Rui graduated from middle school, Mizuki was left alone and realized that loneliness was very painful. Mizuki is glad that Rui has made friends since then. Mizuki designed Rui and Nene's stage outfits. After encountering Rui working on Robo-Nene, they decided the result wasn't cute, so Mizuki took matters into her own hands.

Kusanagi Nene: "Another old friend." We became friends thanks to Rui.

Hatsune Miku: Virtual singer and friend.

Megurine Luka: Virtual singer and friend.

MEIKO: A virtual singer and friend. Although MEIKO keeps her distance, Mizuki believes they have a greater understanding than with other club members.

Akiyama Yuki: Mizuki's older sister. They are very close. Yuki has had a significant influence on Mizuki, from her passion for fashion to her unwavering support of her interests, regardless of social opinion. She was the one who encouraged Mizuki to join 25-ji.

From the very beginning of the story to this day, Mizuki has been the tallest member of 25-ji, Nightcord de. The height difference between Mizuki and Mafuyu, the second tallest member in the group, increased from 1 cm to 3 cm after the third anniversary. On the Japanese server, Mizuki usually uses the first person pronoun Boku (ボク), which is often used by young men, but can also be used by tomboy girls.
