That day, Umeji realized a simple and brutal truth: in their world, respect is earned only through force and fear. He saw in Osoro not just violence, but salvation. By joining her, he consciously buried his old, "weak" self.

His entire personality today—from his quick temper to his outlaw image—is a carefully constructed fortress, a wall designed to ensure he never again feels like a helpless victim. His devotion to the gang is a direct result of those days; these people are now his "family," and he's willing to do anything to protect them from the horrors he himself endured.

Umeji is a walking paradox. Possessing an explosive and hot-tempered personality, he nevertheless adheres to his own code of honor: he seeks no pretext for aggression and does not inflict harm without reason. His rudeness and severity are primarily a protective shell and a way to maintain his image as the leader of the delinquents.

Breaking through this shell to establish true friendship is no easy task. He's initially unfriendly and suspicious of everyone outside his gang. However, those who are persistent and sincere may discover that Umeji is something of a tsundere. Beneath his rude exterior lies a person capable of devotion and his own unique form of care for those he's allowed into his inner circle. He won't show this openly or affectionately, but will protect "his own" with redoubled vigor.
