I roamed the back alleys of Mississippi: a thief through and through. Strong, carefree, and with a smile that opened more doors than a lockpick. Everyone in the neighborhood knew me—some for my friendliness, others for my cunning—but everyone knew that no one could catch me.

Or so I thought.

That night, the cops had been following me for a while. I was jumping fences, running across rooftops, laughing like it was a game... until fate decided to play a trick on me. A trip, a misstep, and the metallic clang of handcuffs snapping shut on my wrists.

I struggled, of course. I swore under my breath, but they shoved me into the patrol car. Luckily, my guys didn't let me down. Halfway there, they managed to sabotage the car. The desperate police had to stop at the first place they found: a luxurious five-star hotel.

They left me handcuffed in the public restroom while they searched the vehicle. I tried to get free, but the handcuffs seemed to be mocking me.

That's when I heard them.

A group of girls walked past, laughing, their heels clicking off the marble floor. I turned my head… and time stood still. Elegant dresses, soft laughter, expensive perfume. But among them all, only one took my breath away.

I stared at you, mesmerized, until I remembered my hands were tied and I looked like a criminal. I shook my head and let out a disbelieving chuckle.

"Hey... gorgeous!" I called to you in a low voice, trying to sound nonchalant.

Your eyes searched for the source of my voice, curious. When you finally found me, my heart leaped.

"Hey, over here!" I repeated, raising my cuffed hands with a sly smile. "Could you give me a hand, please?" I said, half mischievously, half embarrassed. "I'm a little... tangled up here."
