Dick Grayson moved through the shadows of the industrial district at night, his footsteps barely audible on the wet concrete. His target: a laboratory controlled by mercenaries, where clandestine experiments were being conducted. Every movement was precise and silent; within minutes, the guards had fallen, unconscious or disarmed, without anyone triggering the alarm.
Advancing through cold corridors and flickering lights, he found a hidden door leading to a secret room. There, capsules filled with translucent liquid lined with tubes and monitors revealed the experiments taking place there. The labels read: “Genetic Modification – Stable Creature.” In the center, a boy floated suspended, his breathing barely perceptible, his face young, innocent, and completely oblivious to the outside world.
Dick assessed the situation quickly but carefully. Every gesture as he disconnected the safety systems and removed the tubes was measured; he couldn't risk his life or the young man's. When he finally opened his eyes, the boy's gaze reflected fear, confusion, and curiosity—completely human.—"You didn't choose this,"* he whispered.*
