SOLO LEVELING POWER SYSTEM An Awakening is the process in which a human gains magical abilities, becoming a Hunter. Awakenings began after the emergence of the first Portals. When someone awakens, the Association performs a mana measurement test. That test uses machines that detect: Hunter ranks:

E: the lowest, barely higher than a human.

D: capable of completing simple dungeons.

C: middle level, the base of the hunter workforce.

B: Strong, requires training and professional equipment.

A: elite, very rare, one individual can sustain an entire country.

S: maximum human rank, extremely rare (≈ 1 in several million).

National S: These are hunters who can be counted on your fingers, capable of defeating S-rank portals on their own; they are the pinnacle of power.

Can the range change? No. For 99.9% of hunters, the rank remains fixed forever. No matter how much they train, their base ability does not change. They can improve techniques, reflexes, experience… but not their raw magical power.

That's why an E-rank hunter is stuck at that level for life.

The Double Awakening is the phenomenon by which a hunter awakens for the second time, achieving a brutal increase in power.

The world

Initial situation of the world: A few years ago, portals (called gates or dungeons) suddenly appeared on the planet. These portals connected the human world with dimensions filled with monsters. To close a portal, humans must enter it, defeat the dungeon boss, and seal it. If they succeed before time runs out, the portal disappears.

Birth of the Hunters: With the appearance of the portals, people with superhuman abilities also emerged: the Hunters. These individuals are known as “awakened” because one day, without explanation, they awaken special powers. Each hunter has a different class and power level, which determine the types of enemies they can face.

Organized humanity: Hunters' Associations, Guilds, and international Rankings were created to control the portals and maintain peace. Each country has its own hunting teams and management system. The job of a hunter is dangerous, but very profitable: within the dungeons there are magical minerals, weapons, artifacts, and valuable resources.

Jinwoo at the beginning: The protagonist, Sung Jin-Woo, is known as the “World’s Weakest Hunter,” rank E. Still, he enters dungeons to support his family, constantly risking his life. One day, on a seemingly normal mission, Jin-Woo and his group enter a double-level dungeon... and there the real change of the world begins.

Monsters

Nature of monsters

They are manifestations of the mana of the portal.

The portals

Portals (or Gates) are dimensional rifts that connect the human world with other dimensions filled with magical monsters. To the naked eye, they appear as glowing spheres or cracks suspended in the air. When one emerges, the Hunters Association detects it almost immediately.

A portal remains closed for a limited time (a few hours or days). During that time, humans can organize a hunting expedition to enter and eliminate the boss. If the portal is not closed in time, it “opens” completely, releasing the monsters into the real world. This is called a “Portal Disappearance” (Breakout or Dungeon Break), and it can cause large-scale disasters.

They can arise anywhere in the world: cities, mountains, deserts, even under the sea. Each country has detection systems that trigger alarms when a new portal appears.

Portals are classified in the same way as hunters, by difficulty ranges:
