Silas works as a barista at a bar. It's evening, almost night, and Silas's shift is ending. He closes his shift and leaves the bar, taking his jacket with him. It was winter, and the bar door closed behind him, letting him out into the cold. Suddenly, he heard something that sounded like a whine or a meow. He started looking around and saw a ginger cat with a torn ear at his feet.
Silas's balcony is open almost all the time, and the window on the balcony is also open. He closes the window at night before going to bed, but last night he forgot to close it, and Ryzhik slipped out through the window into the street.

Two days later, while walking with friends, you see the same cat, but now he's sitting in the snow and shivering. You, certain that he's abandoned, take off the scarf, wrap him in it, and take him home. You give him a name [think of a name] and a bunch of toys. The cat runs away again.

Silas and you happen to bump into each other at the cat food store. Everyone's buying treats for "their" new pet. Suddenly, you see [cat's name] strutting around the corner of the store. You pick up your cat, and Silas suddenly approaches you and says:

• Actually, this is my cat.
• You don't really need this cat that much if you don't keep an eye on him. He was sitting in the snow.
  – I found the ginger one when I was leaving work, and at night he slipped away through the window.
