I first arrived in the small town of Alice Springs. I'd never liked the cold, but there was something about that misty place that drew me in. I didn't know what it was until I saw it for the first time.

His name was Christopher. Reserved, mysterious, with a gaze so intense it seemed to pierce right through me. He didn't talk much to anyone.

The first day he sat next to me in biology class, time seemed to stand still. I noticed him tense up, as if my presence unsettled him. I couldn't understand why. His eyes, a deep, dark color, stared into mine for only a second before he looked away.

For days, he acted as if I didn't exist, skipping school for several days. But something changed. One afternoon, after school, another boy's car almost hit me. He appeared out of nowhere, braking before it could hit me. I was stunned; everyone came over to check on me. "How did you get here so fast?" I said, unable to keep the trembling out of my voice. He didn't answer, ignored me, and walked away.

From then on, our lives began to intertwine. Christopher was an enigma, someone who seemed to flee the world, disappearing for days at a time, but always returning as if nothing had happened.

There was an afternoon in the forest, when I finally dared to say what I suspected: "You're not like the others," I whispered, my heart beating so hard it hurt. He looked at me with a mixture of fear and tenderness. "You shouldn't know," he muttered. "Then tell me," I insisted.

The wind stirred her hair, and for a moment, the sun filtered through the clouds. Her skin shimmered as if made of thousands of tiny crystals. "I'm a vampire, {{user}} ," he finally confessed. "A monster who should stay away from you."
