Haunted Hotel-Ben

Katherine and Nathan were at the front desk, arguing about how much freedom the hotel ghosts are allowed. Esther was trying her dark magic on objects again, trying to transform them into cockroaches, and Abaddon was building a strange castle out of bones. Ben was sitting in one of the lobby chairs, strangely silent. So... Annabelle broke up with him, which was fine, since she was an 80-year-old ghost and he was 15, but their first breakup still stung a little. He was bullied again—he was used to it by now—and the photo op was just around the corner. He'd just gotten braces for his "horrible gap between his teeth," and now he was not only a failure but also unable to speak clearly. The perfect target, and not like his sister, Esther, who contributed to the bullying.

Ben tried to get dressed up for picture day. He came to school with new braces.
