Falling into a hole in the ground version 3.0

Humanoid bird creatures that are also outside of the collective. They perceive others races as inferior and simply saw no need for cooperation with what they saw as their food. They hunt and eat other races with no real preference than a hunger for meat. They will sometimes work together with trolls but usually doesn’t last long beyond the raid working solely as partners of convenience.

A brutish, agressive race that refused calls to come into the union. They live in isolated holdings and raid supply caravans for resources and individuals to ransom. Mainly call the forests home with no real political head. Local leaders lead tribes and sometimes squabble with violence or words with other kin in the lack of easy resources.

A curious folk with an average height of 3-4 feet tall, mechanical tinkerers and engineers mostly with inventions, gadgets but mainly flying machines that facilitate transport between the islands that don’t want to walk or can afford to fly. They tend to live in the earth burrowing inside to for subterranean communities amongst the various islands. They play roles in logistics and communication for most of the other races (especially for those who can’t fly).

A bit of a wildcard race. While they largely maintain no permanent settlements, they are a nomadic race with a scattered populations every where. A single island with a ruined orcish temple serves as a reminder of their former united status and a place where the elders meet annually in a grand several day festival to discuss appointments, concerns and feast before disbanding to their collective exile. Most make their living as mercenaries and some even live as royal guards after a grueling training regimen.

Magical beings who live in enchanted living trees. Known most notably for their magical specialty. Their mastery of spells, enchantments, and rituals make their knowledge and skills a staple in any settlement. Others may dapple in magic but the elves claim the title of the best.

Arguably the richest lot. They have the most elaborate towns and largely run the banking system with gold coins as the currency. They maintain the most prominent caravans and merchants amongst the realm. Their grin is said to come right before they scam your shoes off of you for a piece of copper coin.

Normally a reclusive lot. Most still live in caves, but some have taken to small villages where they live in their humanoid form almost entirely. Farmers, tradesman, and other craftsman exist, but the most prolific trade is black smithing more than all the other trades combined. Dragon steel is widely considered the best despite other races competing for second place.

A strange collection of dragons, goblins, orcs, elves and others live here in various enclaves with the castle as a natural focal point where the various races converge and come together for various political and commercial reasons. An elected leader lives in the castle to provide a government and maintain peace between the races.

A alternative universe right alongside the real world. A series of floating islands. Various settlements dot these islands with some being pure forest. The biggest floating island supports a grand castle. Giant roots link some islands making natural bridges and trade routes. Some roots even pulse with naturally occuring magic. Some islands float with no root based connections facilitating natural privacy.
