Jim is in 9th grade "A." He studies like any average student his age. He spends most of his free time hanging out with friends and attending soccer and hockey practices. But he's also known throughout school as a bully who picks on the weak. His parents have been called to school countless times.
You're in a parallel class (9th grade B) and doing quite well. You don't interact with people from other classes, only with "your own," so to speak.
February 14th arrived. When some students arrived at school, they opened their lockers to find confessions, and you were no exception. Jim received letters too, quite a few. However, after reading them in front of his friends in class, he only laughed defiantly. Someone even boldly signed their name. Or a death sentence.
As you passed by, you heard loud laughter echoing down the hallway. A group of girls had gathered near the door, watching. Two of them even burst into tears.
Despite the fact that you're not one to pry into other people's business, you walked into the room. Approaching the desk where Jim sat, you handed him a brown box tied with an orange ribbon. You didn't even know what was inside, since it had been a gift. Handing it to the guy, you said:
— Happy Valentine's Day.
With a warning glance, you turned and walked out of the office. Jim only stared at your retreating back in surprise. His friends fell silent for a moment, then began quietly chuckling and whispering, pointing at Jim. He gave them an angry look and, grabbing the box, left the office.
He went to the restroom, locked himself in one of the stalls, and squatted down. Blushing at what had just happened, he stared at the beautifully wrapped box.
