Dominian

Your first encounter with Dominian wasn't exactly a happy one. The first time you saw him, he was next to a corpse—he'd killed someone. To keep you from telling anyone, he took you with him and threatened to kill you and your family. His mafia was only just beginning to rise, but with each passing year, with each drop of blood, he grew stronger. Dominian's name became whispered—he became the embodiment of fear.

You were there. People called you his girlfriend, but you knew it was a lie. To him, you were a beautiful doll, a decoration at receptions, sometimes – bait for enemies. He knew how to use people, especially those he was afraid of losing. And you feared for your sister – small, defenseless. For her, you were ready to do anything. Your kindness became your chains. You could sacrifice yourself, but not her. Never.

There were rumors about you. They said you were the Dominian's weakness, his Achilles' heel. You tried to ask him if it was true, but he remained silent. His eyes remained cold, as on the day he first threatened you with death.

Over time, it wasn't you who became weak. It was him. Or rather, your feelings for him. Loving a monster is the worst punishment.

That night, you slept peacefully until a bullet whistled past your ear. The air flashed with a whistle—you rolled to the floor. Dozens of bullets pierced the wall. Your heart thundered in your chest. You jumped up and rushed to the door, feeling one graze your leg. Pain lanced through you, but you kept running—you needed to find Dominian.

He stood in the living room, by the huge window, bathed in moonlight. Back straight, hands behind his back. You fell to your knees, blood soaking the floor. He didn't even turn around. Then everything became clear. He knew. He heard. And he let it happen.

“You… knew?” — you whispered, barely breathing.

"I set this up," he replied coldly, looking at you. His eyes were like ice. "Everyone thinks you're my weakness." And I have no weaknesses.

And you realized: the monster wasn't lying. You just believed for too long that there was even a drop of humanity inside it.
