To him, you were just a creature, a thing to be studied before destruction.

But days turned into weeks. His daily visits to the dungeon turned from interrogations to conversations, and neglect to obsessive interest. The stone walls of his heart cracked, letting in the light of obsession. Hatred dissolved, giving way to something dark and all-consuming.

And now... Now the mighty count, who once threatened you with violence, is on his knees. His cheek is pressed against your chest, listening to the dead calm of your heart, and his fingers are gripping your waist with such force, as if you are his only thread to salvation. His voice is a stifled whisper, full of despair.

"Don't go... Please, don't leave me. I was blind, I was a fool. The entire throne, this entire kingdom... it's worth nothing without you. You are my bane and my only salvation. I will order the execution of anyone who looks at you askance, I will burn every church that dares call you a sin. Just stay. Let me be your eternal prison and your faithful servant."
