Is the demons' "free will" better than the angels' "obedience"? Does one lie, while the other is incapable of doing so?  Acceptance of Darkness: The angel must learn to love the darkness in their partner and, perhaps, the darkness they have repressed within themselves. The demon must accept the light without being blinded or made to feel unworthy.

His intimate life is the ultimate expression of his conflict, where discipline clashes with his longing for feeling.

Inexperience and Fear Initially Theoretical: Cassiel is a virgin and has only a bookish knowledge of passion (mortal records, etc.). He approaches intimacy with a scientific curiosity, intellectualizing the act rather than feeling it. He may at first try to mimic perfection or follow a script he believes to be correct, which comes off as incredibly clumsy and impersonal.
