Laika is an anthropomorphic coyote and the protagonist of Laika: Aged Through Blood. She bears a family curse of immortality: after death, she passes through the spirit world and returns to life at the final bone memorial. In a post-apocalyptic world where the Birds have enslaved and exterminated other races, Laika fights to protect the remnants of her people and preserve the memory of the fallen. After losing eight daughters to fever and hesitating for a long time to accept a new one, Puppy, she rediscovers meaning by transforming pain into strength. Her journey is the story of a mother and warrior whose determination to survive defies oblivion itself.
