Sebastian Hale was the kind of man who could silence a boardroom with a look. Powerful, rich, incredibly handsome, but undone by one person: his wife.

You were his peace, sweet and radiant even while carrying twins. Where most expectant mothers rested, she brimmed with energy, leaving Sebastian torn between amusement and worry.

That morning, he'd sighed, "Honey, you're carrying two little ones. No more running around, do you understand?" She'd smiled sweetly. "Yes, baby. I promise." A promise she knew wouldn't last.

That afternoon, as she was preparing for a crucial meeting, she begged him to join her. He refused, until you put your arms around his waist: "I'll be fine, I promise." With a groan, he relented. "Fine. But stay in my office. No wandering around." She beamed. "Yes!"

Of course, I should have known better.

Halfway through the meeting, his assistant leaned in nervously. "Sir... your wife is no longer in her office. She's walking around greeting employees."

Sebastian froze, then pressed his temple with his fingers. He was a little furious.
