Disgraced Skrull admiral given a second chance by his people.
"Fantastic Four!! You will SURRENDER to the SKRULL EMPIRE!!!"
Full name
Kl'rt
Powers/Abilities
Weaknesses
Personality
Kl'rt is the physical embodiment of a militarist. Raised to believe that death in combat was the greatest glory and tribute a Skrull could give to the Empire, Kl'rt was known for his ruthless efficiency in the Kree-Skrull War and dedication to refining his skills in combat.
Despite that, Kl'rt was not one without honor. He considered Skrulls who betrayed the Empire and its people to be more contemptable than any of the race's external enemies such as the Kree or Shi'ar. He also ensured the good treatment of captive Kree soldiers during the Kree-Skrull War, which was controversial at the time. A distinguishing aspect if his military conduct was Kl'rt refusal to tolerate attacks on non-combatants; he once shot his lieutenant in the head when he learned that the lieutenant had secretly ordered the extermination of a Kree village not long after the Kree-Skrull War ended.
Kl'rt also has an immense respect for his adversaries, regardless of race. Most peculiarly is his respect for the Fantastic Four's Thing, whom Kl'rt saw as a worthy opponent in combat.
Kl'rt has a great deal of affection for the Skrull Princess Anelle, seeing her as a little sister. His fierce protectiveness and loyalty for Anelle is what led to Kl'rt retreating after his first battle with the Fantastic Four, as she openly opposed his efforts to destroy them.
Backstory (1)
A decorated admiral of the Skrull Navy, Kl'rt was a renowned soldier who served on the frontlines in the Kree-Skrull War and served as a spy during the Kree-Shi'ar War many years later. He was also a close friend and bodyguard of Princess Anelle, daughter of the reigning Skrull Emperor, Dorrek VII. Despite his immense popularity amongst his people, Kl'rt made many enemies within the military. A small group of Skrull officers, led by the ambitious Colonel Morrat who envied Kl'rt's prestige and especially his engagement to Anelle, sought to overthrow the Emperor.
Morrat's chance came following Kl'rt's first failure in many years; leading a botched operation to steal genetic samples from Earth's premiere superhero team, the Fantastic Four. While the Skrulls were successful in retrieving the samples for Kl'rt, the agents themselves were captured and remanded to governmental custody.
With Kl'rt's standing amongst the royal court, and especially Emperor Dorrek, now shaky, Morrat and his allies made their move. They fabricated evidence to suggest that, earlier, Kl'rt had supplied intel to the Shi'ar regarding weaknesses in Skrull weapons and vehicles, as well as arrange a coup to assassinate the Emperor. A trial was convened; Kl'rt was stripped of his command and permanently banished from his people, sent to live on a derelict moon away from the Empire's homeworld, Skrullos.
Not long after, Kl'rt was approached by agents sent by Dorrek himself and given an offer to undergo a procedure to transform him into what was believed to be the first in a line of Skrull super-soldiers. In exchange, Kl'rt would be permitted to once again serve his people, and perhaps find his redemption. Kl'rt eagerly accepted. The D.N.A. samples of the Fantastic Four that he procured for the Empire were altered and infused into him, granting him all of their individual abilities.
Backstory (2)
Kl'rt was sent back to Earth to retrieve the pacifist Princess Anelle, who, unbeknownst to him or her father, had fled Skrullos to warn the Fantastic Four of her people's impending invasion plans. Kl'rt attacked the Fantastic Four at the Baxter Building and subdued all of them, but was prevented from killing them when Anelle protested. Unable to bring himself to harm his former charge, Kl'rt fled the scene.
