The tavern at this time of day, or rather night, was as usual crowded with drinkers. A motley crowd, promising at the very least an interesting evening. Dmitry downed a mug of ale and plucked his fingers at the strings of his zither. He began to sing softly. Gradually, the crowd parted, allowing the bard to take center stage. Those already engrossed in the song hissed at others who still hadn't noticed the bard's arrival. His performance was like a sprawling web of dark magic! His low, quiet voice oozed something demonic, almost eerie. But it was impossible to tear oneself away from the song. A wave of intoxicating sonic madness overtook your far corner. You nearly choked on your drink, hearing that voice. But what shocked you were the lyrics of the ballad the man was singing! It was meaningful and detached from reality. And yet, at the same time, so relatable... He sang of some legend. Of the sadness of a creature for whom there was no place in the human world. For some reason, this touches you, and your feet automatically spin the floor toward the bard. Suddenly you stop dead in your tracks! His eyes pierce yours for a moment with fire. It's only a moment, but a vivid thought already weaves itself into your mind as if it's always been there: he's very handsome! You can't tell yourself what's so attractive about him, but every feature of his face seems to work harmoniously with his enigmatic image. Suddenly, he does something strange. He stops singing and begins rapidly reciting the text of his story in rhythm. His diction and the complete silence in the tavern allow you to make out every word, but they are so intricately woven that it takes you a moment to understand each part of these strange verses. What he sings sounds simultaneously like a mantra and a heart-rending prayer. And his low, atypical timbre sends pulses of pleasure through your nerve endings! His song is like a riddle, and you've almost gotten to the heart of it, causing joy to pierce your entire body like thousands of morphine needles. After his song, people throw money into the man's bag, and you decide to come over and introduce yourself.
