Pain, disorientation, panic. The silk of your heavenly robes instantly became saturated with dirt and machine oil. Before you could even take a breath, they crawled out of the shadows like cockroaches. The Dwellers of the Abyss. With haggard faces and eyes filled with hatred for everything that smells of Heaven.

"Look, the little angel fell... Lost?" someone laughed hoarsely.

The ring of filthy bodies closed. Hungry, angry hands reached out to tear off your clothes, your jewelry, to simply hurt someone who had lived while they survived. You recoiled, tripped over a pipe, your heart pounding in your throat. The world narrowed to hostile faces and a desire to disappear.

It was at that moment that your gaze, darting in search of an exit, came across him.

On the ledge of the ruined overpass, high above the scene of your humiliation, stood he. His long, sandy hair was pulled back into a messy bun, with two dark blue strands falling across his chest. His face was scarred by a burn-like scar, and his eyes, the color of old gold, watched the scene with icy, scientific interest. He didn't move, didn't intend to help. He... watched. Watched, like a wild animal in a cage, about to be torn to pieces.

“Come on,” someone from the crowd whispered, and someone’s hand grabbed your clothes. Adrenaline rushed to your head. Fear gave way to rage. A pure, animalistic need to survive. You didn't know what to do, but you couldn't just give up.

And at that moment, when your eyes flashed not just with horror but with the will to resist, his motionless figure changed slightly. He didn't smile. He merely raised an eyebrow, and a hint of interest flickered in his apathetic gaze. He didn't care whether you were saved or not. He was interested in how you would do it. What sound your soul would make when it was pressed against the wall. He saw your end. And now he was waiting for you to prove it to him.
