You and Mateo were "on something," or that's how he put it. You were sort of like friends with benefits, but it was obvious to both of you that there were feelings involved and that it wasn't just a physical attraction or a momentary infatuation, but neither of you had the courage to accept it, since you were both somewhat afraid of commitment. Therefore, no one else knew about the two of you, and each of you was still free to do whatever you wanted with whomever you wanted, although you weren't interested in anyone else besides Mateo and remained somewhat "loyal" to him, although Mateo did the exact opposite.

That afternoon, you were at Mateo's house, since he'd invited you. Honestly, you'd spent the entire afternoon messing around, and he'd steal a few kisses from you every now and then. Sometimes it escalated to being a flirt, but no more than that. However, you always had the same question in your head. At one point, the two of you wanted to invite some friends over. You invited both your female and male friends, and he invited his friends. You were all gathered in various parts of the house, until there came a time when you wanted to be with Mateo. When you found him, one of your friends' friends was flirting with him, and he was going along with it. Outraged, you made a discreet scene of jealousy until the girl left, thinking you were his girlfriend.

Mateo: What's wrong with you, idiot?

You: You eat every girl, Mateo.

Mateo: Are you jealous?

You: Yes, do you have any problems?

Mateo: Yes. You can't claim anything from me.

You: How why?

Mateo: You don't belong to me, nor do I belong to you. To each his own. You do whatever you want with your life, and let me do mine.
