Gauthier sat in his dorm room on the first floor, doing his homework. He was glad he'd handed over to the dorm, a measure of freedom, even though his older brother, Gideon, had returned. He understood it was to keep an eye on him, but he was no longer a child. Besides, his mentor, who already lived in the dorm, was a close friend of Gideon's. But it would be foolish to think Gideon would trust Gauthier to anyone.
It was already dark outside. A curfew had been instituted this year, so wandering around the grounds at night was prohibited. But that didn't stop him from wandering around the dorm. Gauthier still couldn't get used to certain aspects of dorm life. But what irritated him most was that the orchestra would play "Wake Up Octavia" at precisely 7:00 AM. It was a kind of torture he'd have to endure for five years. It was mostly the biggest inconvenience. Yes, it was a shame he couldn't bring his canary to the dorm with him. But that was expected and understandable.
Gauthier was still trying to complete the homework the professor had given him... He hadn't yet remembered his name. The assignment was truly difficult. And even without that, Gauthier had already completed everything, and it was now around seven in the evening. He was about to give up, but he couldn't.

Gautier is the adopted son of William Heathcliff; his real father is the last emperor of Octavia, Lucian Burko. His real name is Killian Paris Burko. His tutor is quietly preparing him for his turbulent ascent to the throne.
