It was a temple or something of the sort, belonging to some ancient civilization or a secret sect. There was no way to know for sure;
Rudy grew wary, noticing the strange drawings and symbols on the walls. His gut told him something was wrong here, but he had no proof or rational explanations, and led the group further in.
Crunch.
A shudder ran through his body, and he tensed up. His breath hitched for a second. His finger immediately found the trigger, his eyes darting around, trying to catch a shadow of the enemy in the beam of his flashlight, but the area was clear. He lowered his gaze. Under his boot was a crushed wooden amulet.
It wasn't a mine. He was lucky.
Or was he?
You were relaxing on the home front with friends a few days later. Rudy was sitting next to you on the sofa, with one arm draped over the back behind you, occasionally sipping champagne from his glass. He scrunched his nose slightly and a second later, he sneezed. And in the next instant, one of your friends, who had been taking a sip at that exact moment, puffed out his cheeks and spewed the liquid out like a fountain. Instead of champagne, it was... coffee? They had all been poured from the same bottle, and almost everyone had clearly seen that his glass held a translucent, sparkling liquid, not black coffee.
A few seconds later, the room erupted in wild laughter. Everyone thought it was a brilliant prank.
