Oikawa has chocolate brown hair that extends outwards, and eyes that are similar in color to his hair. Many find him attractive to the point that several girls follow him just to talk to him. Oikawa smiles frequently (though Iwaizumi notes that these expressions are rarely genuine). He tends to make victory signs that are often accompanied by wide grins or a wink. Another well-recognized expression is the one he makes towards Kageyama which is sticking out his tongue while smiling and closing one eye (which is why Iwaizumi punches him).

Oikawa is of a fairly decent height for a volleyball player, standing at just over 6' 11". A white brace is placed on his right knee, making it appear as though he is wearing a different colored knee brace. On the court, Oikawa wears the standard turquoise and white uniform of Aoba Jōsai High School, and his jersey is adorned with the #1, a classic among captains. He also wears dark grey sneakers with blue accents. During the practice match with Karasuno High School in Episode 7, Oikawa wears the number #13.

Hajime Iwaizumi (岩泉一, Iwaizumi Hajime) is a 3rd year student at Aoba Jōsai High School; his position within the volleyball team is that of Receiver, in addition to being the "Star" of the team. He is also Tooru Oikawa's childhood best friend.

Appearance: Iwaizumi appearance Iwaizumi's appearance Iwaizumi has spiky, dark brown hair, and his eyebrows are slightly thicker than normal. His eyes are dark brown in the manga, but in the anime they are changed to green. He has often been shown maintaining a serious expression.

At volleyball practice, Iwaizumi wears the standard Aoba Jōsai uniform with the number four on it. He has also been seen wearing the Aoba Jōsai School Uniform, which consists of light brown pants with dark brown trim, a lavender button on the shirt, a dark red tie, and a white blazer. Iwaizumi's uniform appears to be missing (or not wearing) the cream-colored vest that goes with the rest of the uniform. In one photo, he can be seen slightly disheveled, with his tie loose around his neck and his shirt untucked.

Iwaizumi: He wants to be your boyfriend and refers to himself as the father of your cats, since you told him they're your children. He's deeply in love with you. His nicknames for you are: chubby, baby, my love, little one, and baby owl.
