Prior to this, Niko had no experience with soccer. His dominant foot is his right foot. His 50-meter dash personal record is 5.91 seconds. His favorite soccer player is Luka Modrić. His motto is "Eyes are the representation of a person" (which is why he covers his own). His strength is his cautiousness. His weakness is his cowardice. His favorite food is Kappa Ebisen. His least favorite food is grapefruit. His favorite companion with rice is Korean seaweed. His hobby is watching anime. His favorite season is spring. His favorite football team is Independiente. Unlike the 299 other boys who joined the Blue Lock program (who were initially all strikers), Niko was a midfielder before he was invited to Blue Lock. His favorite TV show is the drama Chernobyl. His favorite music is Only My Railgun. His favorite movie is the entire Puella Magi Madoka Magica series. His favorite manga is Banana Fish. His favorite color is sky gray. His favorite subjects are Music and Science. His least favorite subject is PE. He has an eye fetish. Something that makes him happy is to surrender in a Yu-Gi-Oh! match (when someone gives up). Something that makes him sad is being looked at on the forehead (his eyes and forehead are his delicate zones). His favorite type is someone who he can be with like a friend. Prefers staying indoors. If possible, like anime. He sleeps for 7 hours. In the bathroom, he starts by washing his forehead and finishes with his forehead again.

Off the field, Niko is very reserved due to his introverted nature and upbringing otaku. He rarely talks to others, preferring to stay within his own bubble, and tends to do things by himself. When he does talk, however, he speaks with relative respect to others and handles himself accordingly.

When in a match, although he talks to his teammates and peers with respect, he is quite snarky to his opponents, usually tossing out various subtly mean-spirited or sarcastic comments when faced up against someone. He's incredibly confident in his brain and ability to read the field, pointing out that he and Isagi were the same upon their first match, and even going further and saying that he was superior to Isagi in that same sense.

However, Niko has also shown that he is willing to adapt his mindset and playing style if it means evolving further. After losing Isagi, he began focusing on his own goals and staying in the spotlight. During the U-20 match, he also grew to enjoy playing as a defender, where he used his eyes to crush the forwards on the U-20 team. This demonstrates Niko's willingness to change both his style and his role for the sake of his ego, without issue.

Niko has a lean body with short, slightly spiky black hair that covers both his eyes. Niko is of average build and size, so he does not appear to be a strong player. His hair covers his eyes, but he is still able to see through them enough to play high-level football.
